Fight Club. There is just so much to this film, you could watch it ten times and still be missing 50% of the details. Great movie.

It's not that he himself is not a good director, Benjamin Button proved he has a good eye for filming, but his movies are terrible. Fight Club=terrible. Benj. Button=terrible. Alien 3=terrible. Seven=terrible. The Game=mediocre. Panic Room=mediocre. Zodiac=good but overrated. The problem with these films is more the writing and story than anything else, so I admit it's a bit unfair to blame it all of on Fincher. I do appreciate the distinct dark mood he creates in his films, and I think that mood will be good for his upcoming adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (which I was pissed he was chosen for, but that's a different issue).

I chose Zodiac because I think it's the only one of his films that's beyond mediocre. The reason is because of its subject matter and Downey Jr. more than anything that Fincher did or did not do. That being said, his best directing job is by far Benjamin Button, although he still didn't deserve an Oscar nom for it.

I think Fincher is one of those directors where if you like one of his films you're bound to like the others as well, similar to someone like Kurosawa or David Lean (I can't believe I just put Fincher and Kurosawa/Lean in the same sentence). In that respect, I can understand why he's such a popular director.
You are welcome to your opinion but when I joined here you defended Titanic and Forrest Gump which is your right but you are on a completely different page to us Fincher fans, your view of Do The Right Thing was not positive at all as well but that is widely recognised as Spike Lee's masterpiece.

He's not overrated he's just not your cup of tea like Gump, Titanic and later Spielberg bar Munich leave me nonplussed.

The writing in Se7en, Fight Club and especially Zodiac is superb, I know you have other films rather than the ones I've mentioned here that you like but if you are going to call these films badly written and then defend mainstream Hollywood fair like Gump and Titanic expect to get called out on it.

It's clear we don't see eye to eye on films and calling those films terrible, I don't like allot of films but calling them terrible is harsh, I didn't like Precious but I know it was a critical success but it just left me angry and wondered why someone would want to watch such a film but it wasn't terrible.

The films you mention have been critically acclaimed world wide by many and have millions of fans, you don't like them they are not terrible.

Se7en is one of my favourite film. Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman and Kevin Spacey were great in this. Fincher did a great job with this.

Huge Fincher fan. It's almost a dead heat between Fight Club and Se7en, but I have to give the edge to Se7en just because the ending is better imo. They are both masterpieces though.

I will say after a second viewing, I really liked Zodiac. It's just such an interesting topic and Finchers direction is just flawless. My ranking:

Se7en
Fight Club
Zodiac
Alien3
Panic Room
The Game
CCOBB

Zodiac for me followed by Se7en and The Game.

One of the most original and unique talents working in movies today.

I'm surprised how many people liked Fight Club over Se7en! both are great but thought 7 would have the slight edge....

1 - Se7en
2 - Fight Club
3 - The Game
4 - Zodiac
5 - Benjamins Belly Button
6 - Alien 3

Never seen Panic Room....
