Any news on a new release / remaster, like other Corman Classics?

One can hope. Saw the movie for the first time tonight at Tarantino's theater - on an original 35mm print from the 70s - and it was such a fun time. Plus one would think since Corman projects like the first two "Deathstalker" films, "Slumber Party Massacre", "Piranha" and "Streetwalkin'" could all get revamped and remastered releases, no reason this shouldn't.

How I wish this would go back to print and be released as a steelbook as well.

Is there any known reason that Shout hasn't re-released this? I was sure it would get a steelbook release, although at this point I would expect a UHD.
The worst part is I never got around to buying the original release, and it's been OOP and pricey for a long time. |

https://www.signal1entertainment.com...e-2000-blu-ray Less extras than the Shout disc. This needs a 4K release. Update: I ordered Death Race. Still kicking myself for getting rid of my DVD years ago. The Shout OOP Blu-ray goes for $150 now. Last edited by dmabuse; 01-09-2024 at 01:48 AM. |

It almost has to be something like that. Shout would surely have already re-released it as a SteelBook edition years ago, and I would imagine as a 4K already as well. The Blu-ray came out way back in 2010, and as much as they re-release everything popular that will "sell" I can't see any other valid reason.

I watched the Signal One blu-ray tonight. I thought it looked good. I'd say 3.5 out of 5 stars. The colors are great, the detail is solid if not sharp. I don't know if it is the Shout transfer since I don't have that one (bought this as the cheaper alternative), but I do have the Shout DVD and this is a definite upgrade in all aspects. I will keep the DVD for the extras though.

I ended up ordering the Signal One version since who knows if Shout will ever reissue this given their Corman situation. I'll post some screen caps once it gets here.
