Playstation Plus, who's signing up? - Blu-ray Forum

Surprised there's no poll on this. Who intends to sign up for Playstation Plus?

I'm generally skeptical of paying for online gaming and think I'd go back to PC gaming or consider XBL if I was going to pay unless I see evidence that Playstation Plus is really going to be worth money. I can forgive PSN's shortcomings since it doesn't cost me anything (and it's paid for by content producers on the back end and through microtransactions?).

Is there no free trial? Should at least get 30-90 days free if they really want to promote it.

I will give it a try for a year see what they can do with it, if I feel like I am not getting my money's worth it will be the last subscription for me.

I do want to see the specifics first, but assuming there isn't a twist or some nasty fine print, I think I'm in.

It's hard to say 100% until we actually see a formal list of what your subscription buys you - but I'm encouraged so far.

I won't be signing up. Given the type of gamer I am, it doesn't seem worth it. But I definitely see the value to the average PS3 gamer.

I already subscribe to Qore, so another $25 a year sounds like a decent deal to me. So yeah, I'll get PS Plus.

Does anyone know if Qore will be available with the UK PS Plus as well?

Interestingly enough, the ability to download full games, try them for 1 hour and then be able to play them straight from the HDD if I want is a big draw I think.
Free games every month and exclusive demos is like the icing on the cake to me

yeah but to be able to keep it, it seems like you have to keep your membership active..

FAQ (FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS) REGARDING THE PSN PLUS:
2. "If I unsubscribe do I lose access to all the stuff I bought?"

no. You only lose access to the free stuff. If you free trial a game and then buy it, it's yours forever, whether you cancel the next month or the next year. Anything you PAID money for while a plus member, you get to keep forever. Anything that you got FREE (such as demos, free trials, free avatars, themes, etc) you lose access to. If you re-subscribe later, you get access to all that stuff again)

10. How does this affect DLC? Do I lose any free DLC if I unsubscribe?

From what I understand, if you have FREE DLC you will no longer have access to that DLC, whether it's characters, skins, maps, etc. If you PAY for the DLC before unsubscribing, it is yours forever

I think I'll stay free as it seems online play will stay free anyway

9. Do I have to pay for online gaming now?

NO! Everything you have in the PSN right now, you will still have even if you don't subscribe. Nothing that you get for free right now, will be switched over to the Playstation Plus. So to reiterate, Online Gaming will remain FREE OF CHARGE!

I'm willing to support another source of income for Sony... hopefully they will channel some of the cash they make from PS+ into acquiring even more exclusive content from third party developers (fingers crossed)

I'll opt in for the 90 day package at first and see how it develops!

I'm in for sure. I already have Qore, so another $25/$30 for all that other stuff seems like an awesome deal. Heck if I don't buy a full price game because I have so many PSN games to play, I just saved $30/yr by subscribing.
