I was getting ready to start masking for the ceiling painting in the basement. My wife asked me if I had to paint the entire ceiling or if I could just do a part in front of the screen. I had never considered that.
Obviously, the entire ceiling being painted would be the best. However, I am married and must consider my battles. Would I get a good benefit if I painted a semi-circle front pillar to pillar (see gallery) that came out 4-5 feet or so? Tom |

I would paint the area covering 5ft from the screen wall in between the pillars, you can then add some matching trim pieces around the 3 room exposed sides to finish off ![]() Bill |

![]() ![]() If you had a way to get power up their easily you could build something that hangs from the ceiling with lights around the edge but in it (think empty box) that can provide non tv watching ambiance. and a nice focal point in the room ![]() Bill |

I don't think it would be a waste of money since I could reuse the velvet for this project or for the blockout light project for the double door. Tom |

Resurrecting an old topic, sorry if that's a no-no but this is an interesting idea. Is it possible if one has a drop-ceiling to paint or buy dark or black colored ceiling panels that could go in front of the screen? Maybe along the entire border of a room in that fashion to keep it a uniform 2-foot border of darker color. Would this 2-foot buffer be enough room to absorb that reflection?

Every type of panel I've never seen in a drop-ceiling has been white or off-white so I wasn't sure this was something that even existed or it would look horribly tacky. |

1) The tiles absorbed alot of the paint and had a spotty appearance when done 2) After installation when the tiles got hit and pieces broke off, it revealed white spots. I tried to find the thread listed but I couldn't. It might have been on the avsforum. Tom |
