Blu-ray Samurai
|
![]()
HEY YOU GUYS!, can't find a thread on this on the UK forum but apologies if it's come up already.
Some pictures and details have been released of this set very recently, and it looks amazing! ![]() http://www.slashfilm.com/2010/07/26/...-art-revealed/ I hope we get the same set over here. There are no details for a UK release date for this yet as far as I know, but I'm thinking it's likely we're getting one if the set includes a reprint of a British magazine (Empire); by the way, I actually have that issue and it really is brilliant. Fingers crossed then for a UK release this year! ![]() |

I don't think this set will be US exclusive, mostly due to the inclusion of the Empire magazine. The digibooks are US exclusive usually because they are part of a bigger collection (e.g. the Criterion collection), this is more of a one off. Then again it's WB, and they wouldn't let us have that cool Wizard of Oz box set...

I think Warner consider the UK market place to small for such releases. Disappointed as I am, I can't say I'm surprised. Blu-ray penetration as a percentage isn't as large over here as the US, plus we have a smaller population. Which all adds up to lower potential sales.
The Digibooks would need translating for any other EU marketplace, so its not really worth Warner releasing them in the UK. Same with the boxed packages. My guess is we got a Dirty Harry collection, but without the pack-in for this very reason: its cheaper to print a different cardboard sleeve and case inserts than to print different versions of the book etc. I wouldn't expect a UK Goonies UCE release, for this reason (and the reason the Blu-ray has been available over here for months already). |

The disc itself in the set is probably the same disc that was already released in the UK.
US/Canadian collectors are importing the UK disc to avoid having to buy this set, now UK collectors want the set. Funny how things work. ![]() |

Hi
Anyone own this? Is it worth the £25 it'll cost to buy, compared to the UK release which can be picked up for around £7.... Am a fan of the Goonies, I do like some extras but its a big price difference. Thanks in advance |
