PQ/AQ aside. I enjoyed Terminator Salvation more. If you're a fan of the Terminator series, I think you'll enjoy it a lot.

If it's Terminator Salvation & the new The Day The Earth Stood Still then I say, neither one.

If it's Terminator Salvation & the old The Day The Earth Stood Still then I say, get The Day The Earth Stood Still

It's just that most people I know that were fans of the first two films generally ignore the existence of the last two films.

The third added nothing new and was more of a parody of the first two and Salvation was just.....not very good.

Well, I can't stand heavy grain.

Did anyone read my original post, or is it just so much fun to post something on this topic?

One last question:

Does Terminator Salvation stand on its own, or does it require the other T films to make sense??

Again, I am not buying because of A/VQ, but because it's an interesting concept if done right.

So, does TS have any relevant meaning?

Thanks again for the overwhelming feedback.

War of the Worlds for me. I am a Terminator fan.

I have Terminator, Terminator 2, Terminator 3 , Sarah Connor 1 and 2 on BD.
I have Terminator 2 (French Import) and 3 on HD-DVD
I have Terminator and Terminator 2 on DVD(Almost every release)
I have Terminator and Terminator 2 on Laserdisc (Almost every release except sqeeze editions and Hi-vision ones)

I have in my wishlist, Terminator 2 Skynet Edition, Terminator 2 UK Optimum Release, Terminator 3 Uk release

I totaly disregard Terminator Salvation. Because I have all this above and I am an OCD, I will also buy Salvation but keep delaying it because it doesnt excite me as the first two even as t3. for me Terminator = Schwarzenegger lol

It stands on its own but I'd personally recommend watching them in the order they were made.

You're right. It is an interesting concept. But it doesn't work, at least not in this film.

And no, it doesn't have any relevant meaning.

Get the first two films. They are far better films with a more interesting premise.

I'll tell you something from this movie fan...I'd watch both TF films before I'll watch WotW. I just don't get the hate for the TF films. I mean, what did the fans want? Their desires seem to conflict with one another. I mean, does anybody actually remember the supreme cheese that the G1 series was? Yeah, it was cool and new back in the early '80s, but try to watch it now, it's frakking painful.

I'll take Bay's TF films over any animated version. Although, it'd be cool if they would adapt the new TF: War for Cybertron game to a CG animated series.

I liked WOTW, but am not fond of heavy grain, and it's not really one of my favorites.

I haven't seen TS yet, but could potentially like it.

I used to like T2, love Si-Fi and Fantasy.

Does the movie have a meaningful story or is it just an action spectacle?

Thanks for your help!
Rent them both and see what you think.

But Salvation had Arnold in it. Albeit a CG face replacement version of him.

And I also have to disagree with you that "Terminator" does not equal "Schwarzeneggar". The Terminator franchise is so much more than the original actor who portrays the T-800. Just as the Star Wars franchise is so much more than Anakin Sklywalker. Or the Star Trek franchise is so much more than William Shatner.

I've never understood why some people narrowly-minded equate a fictional universe by one particualr actor or character.

Does Batman Begins and The Dark Knight suck because Adam West or Michael Keaton aren't in it?

Terminator Salvation rocked because it continued the Terminator mythos to a place where we've always wanted to see it -- The Future War. That said, I hope we see the planned sequels. I can't wait to see where this trilogy goes.
