You do however like BD & or HDDVD, therefor you like one better. It's impossible to say they are the same, unless they are...and they aren't. Therefore you have a preferance.

The only thing that keeps me on the edge (and I said, I probably lean just a touch towards blu) is that there is that I still don't see some of the blu-ray advantages as tangible. Space obviously is for extras and better audio. But I just don't know if the video difference will actually be visible. It sure isn't to me. I also don't have a lossless receiver and am not sure I've ever heard it or could tell the difference. What I have now sounds great. Maybe I just need to hear it. So that's why I am neutral - I need to see/hear it for myself to really see the benefit.
I don't know how many BD's you've watched vs. HDDVD's but I have two BD players, two 1080p tv's over 100 BD's and nearly 60 HDDVD's I can tell you I am consistantly more impressed with the Highbitrate AVC & even some mpeg2
over HDDVD and it's low bit-rate VC-1. I know VC-1 is good, DeJa Vu proved that. But the ONLY titles in VC-1 to me that are compareable in sharpness to what I have gotten used to with BD is Kong, HotFuzz & PitchBlack. Vs. just about 95% of Sony & Disney titles that look Awesome. You do the math.

Quote:
The only benefits either format has for me right now is the exclusive movies. Dual format titles I'll buy on the cheaper of the two. I do share the sentiment of many others and wish there was no war, but I also want to watch whatever I can in HD.
I can respect this, and whole heartedly agree. I think with a little more watching, you will soon gain the trained eye for detail and start noticing the difference in not only PQ, but number of esclusive hit titles on Blu-ray.

I have a Wii, 360 & PS3 (only bought for watching BDs)
I dont have the 360 add on & never will.

Still its just childish calling it HD DUD.
There used to be a Nintendo magazine that would call the PS a "Fony Greystation". It was so childish & pathetic (and im a nintendo fanboy) that i stopped buying the magazine.

But does it make sense? To scare off those that ask what may appear to be stupid questions?

Why does it matter, Why do you care! You are doing the same thing here, calling people names.(childish) Let it go and enjoy your Blu-ray, HD-DVD or what ever.

Neutral people are..

1 usually hiding under the guise of format neutrality to bash BD. and/or trying to sway others to the dark side.
2 Selfish non forward thinkers that are directly helping what was a pillow fight, turn into a never ending war that leaves us with nitche formats at best, with low bit rate/bandwith HD downloads taking over.

I have far more respect for owners of one format, particularly if that format is BD.

Format neutral speak as well as hd dvd speak should be kept on the other forums that Microsoft pays off instead of this fine site IMO.

Is that it? or..

Do I like baseball, which is why I might watch Tampa and Toronto?

Just like I like watching TV, Movies..etc in High Def. Therefore I opt for both HD DVD and Blu-ray since its the only way I can get the movies I want on media I can own and view at my leisure.

So my preference is really towards HD.

I've watched everyone I've watched I have found them all to look good. Only title on either format that I was unhappy with was Total Recall. I think in part, maybe I can't distinguish simply because my TV is a Projector. Its a 92" 720P image.

I'm not sure if I will until I get a 1080P set, but time will tell. What I am interested in is hearing lossless audio, but I'm not about to buy a new receiver now. That's far down on my list as I am very happy with my 5.1 surround.

you have seen 12 movies...Your opinion on the war and PQ is hardly credible at this point. Get back to me when you've seen like 35-40 flicks on each.
You can not deny Science. Higher Bit-rate= less compression=less loss. If you can't tell the difference, either your display device sucks, your vision is poor, Or...your an HDDVD fanboy who lives by Amir's "law of diminishing returns"...My opinion on Diminishing returns then is, why film anything in such High res to begin with....if it doesn't matter, Why have PC monitors higher than 1080p? Hmm, those iMac monitors sure look better than my 1080p sony Xbright. I wonder why? oh...it's just Placebo right

You'll never get it, because you already had your mind made up from the first time you registered here with the controversial name and subsequent posts. My guess, you are here to try and solidify that you will get banned for simply being Neutral here...lol

Look at it from this point of view;

Random man in mid 40's browsing the net trying to decide which format to go for & stumbles into this site. Now while here he sees people using these names & he is automatically going to assume Blu Ray owners must be 13 year olds with PS3/pathetic fan boys.

We all want Blu to win, why not be mature about it. Why lower our selves to the standards of HD DVD companys by using such lame terms.
Maybe they re 8 years old...

I think thats fairly inaccurate. Format neutral are not sustaining the war. Its those that are only supporting 1 format that are.

And your last comment - are you saying those that are neutral shouldn't post here? This should only be a site for those in love with blu-ray? hmm.. maybe I should setup a new site - forum.i-love-blu-ray.com?

Discussion people like myself and even those pro-HD DVD is good since it helps promote learning. Heck, I would think it would be great for the support of blu-ray to get all the info from the die hard HD DVD supporters. To beat the enemy, you need to know the enemy.

Well, since the only people that can see this thread are members, then nobody has been turned off BD.

This is Blu-ray.com, keep that in mind. If it were a discussion board for both formats, then you could boast about having an HD DVD player. But the people here; like BTBuck1, who have an HD DVD player, obviously like BD much, much better.

you wanna learn about HDDVD, go to HDDVD.com, and or Zealot central AVMS. Trust me, (US) we've heard all the arguments, thats why we are here...to avoid it, and the likes of people like you...trying to "Educate" us.

How many does it take, for you to realize, we don't want none, we gave at the office.

Its just a fact. I'm not saying who will win - I do think blu-ray will win. You brought it up. Sony did release on VHS, although it took them a very long time, so it is plausible to think they'd do the same.

No. I OWN 12 movies. I use netflix for the rest. And I believe my reason for not seeing a difference is probably 720P. I've tried to get good answers on whether 1080P is needed to see a real benefit and I've yet to get a good answer. I will have 1080P in the future, so I think the benefit of PQ is valid - I just haven't seen it myself.

No, I have nothing made up. I think blu-ray will win. I like both. I simply aim to get a better understanding of the differences and benefits. You can see a difference and hear a difference. I can't today. If someone would simply say "Duh.. its because the difference can't be seen on a 720P image", then I'd say, ok, thanks.

I do want to listen to the more advanced audio codecs though, that's just going to be a awhile.

exactly, and if I want to talk about HDDVD, I do it with the tools over at AVS. However, If I go over there as BTBuck1 I instantly get no credibility as I am referred to as a BD shill (and proud of it), and rightfully so in their eyes i guess.
