Arrow is bringing us-Cat o'Nine Tails, Phenomena and Tenebre. Hoping that we get BD of Deep Red and a region A or Free BD for Suspiria.
I hope Arrow keeps doing the cool box art.

I only have Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead. Need to get City of the Living Dead.
Would get the blue Underground BD of COTLD but I love the Arrow package. Also Blue Underground has plenty of films I want to buy to support them.

Got the Inferno Blu on order, and really look forward to this as it's my favourite Argento. As far as I'm aware, none of the other Arrows are definitely comfirmed as Blu at the moment. I think Deep Red is intended to be released in HD if all goes well.

^ Eh?

btw What do you think of Arrow's dvd artwork for The Stendhal Syndrome where it actually depicts the (unfortunate multiple rape and assault victim) Asia character in a blatant 'come hither' pose? Appropriate or misjudged?

Arrow only uses posters that were made for the movie at the time of release.

In other instances, well known artists are creating new posters for it.

All of that is welcome. 4 posters made into covers to choose from.
Also, one of them is the greek one! (Yes, im greek) I remember it from when I used to go to the movies. Crappy? Yes! Still, an original movie poster paying homage to the movie.

I am sorry the movie is not a 2010 avatar-like movie with state of the art graphics/art to use for a cover. Arrow deals with cult horror movies.

If you (not you, SymbioticFunction. im speaking in general) are not happy with the artwork, and you are a fan of the movie, just be glad it's out on BD!

My only significant complaint is with the commissioned artwork by the same artist, Rick Melton. The Stendhal artwork was probably the most inappropriate to date. A friend of mine has met his agent, who said that although Arrow send him copies of the films, he often doesn't watch them.

yeah but who cares, you have 3 original poster designs to chose from for the cover
i think its cool that they put a little more effort into their releases, as misguided as they might be.

Fair enough, I actually like what both you and demiscy are saying. My 'cheap and tacky' remark would have been my final word on the matter, had it not been for the 'crapping on threads' post which was clearly rather irritating, and designed solely for that antagonistic purpose. IMO, Inferno is one of the greatest & most important films ever made and Argento IS my favourite director so folks will have to excuse my extreme passion on this ONE subject. btw On a technical side, this is only an upgrade release. I have been informed that the master being used was created for the 2007 (and excellent) Italian dvd release. I'm obviously looking forward to an upgrade now and even more so, the subsequent Blue Underground bd release where a new high definition master will be created from the original negative. But as Arrow don't offer me releases at production cost price, and I am paying the full retail value, I'll feel entitled to criticise such releases if I feel it necessary. Ironically, a member post search will find that I am far less harsh than others on the flawed (but certainly not deal breaking) Cini-Excess Suspiria release. As for City Of The Living Dead, I would advise to buy Blue Underground instead of Arrow. Despite utilising the same master, something clearly went wrong because the BU release has noticeably better PQ...and film>extras imho.

im not saying you arent entitled to think the commissioned artwork is crappy, because it definitely is. im just saying theres no reason to care one way or another because you have 3 other options to use as the cover.
my City of the Living Dead is sitting on the shelf with its original poster art as the cover, ill probably never look at the Arrow cover art again.

Even if you don't like Arrow's artwork (and they do give you a choice) at least they put some effort in unlike the major studios - have you seen the covers for The Maltese Falcon, Treasure Of The Sierra Madre and the Vacation films?

^ Was asked a question so will come back & answer.

To be honest, have had a look and personally rate all of those covers over Arrow's new Rick Melton image. Us bd purchasers might have reversible covers but dvd collectors are completely stuck with that horrible thing.

btw Read this tonight, from a 'dark-dreams.co.uk' member who took the info from 'twitchfilm.net':

"Germany's Koch And Camera Obscura Promise The Definitive Version Of Dario Argento's INFERNO In October.by Todd Brown. Argento completists may want to hold off before rushing out to buy that new UK BluRay of Dario's Inferno. Why?

Because coming in October from Koch and Camera Obscura in October is a new edition that they promise to be definitive, one loaded with new original features built around a new, HD transfer supervised and color corrected by the film's cinematographer, Romano Albani.

Here's the full list of features:- New HD digital transfer of the uncut version was supervised and colour-corrected by the cinematographer Romano Albani - English, Italian and German audio - New, 2010 produced and over 90 minutes long documenatry about INFERNO with Dario Argento, cinematographer Romano Albani, actress Daria Nicolodi, the makeup as well as the special effects department, Luigi Cozzi, Claudia Simonetti as well as the animal trainer of the film. - Irene Miracle hosted by Tim Lucas - Question & Answear with music composer Keith Emerson - New, 2010 produced location tour - German, English as well as Italian trailer - New audiocommentary by film-historicans Dr. Marcus Stigelegger ans Christian Kessler - Booklet - Movie as well as ALL supplementary materials have English & German subtitles."

Not true. The DVD set's gonna have the exact same packaging. Just a little taller.

Why are you confused?

I don't like Argento films to be censored and both Inferno & Deep Red are problematic films for the BBFC as regards to their stance on animal 'cruelty' in cinema. Those were the only 2 films that the modern BBFC would object to. Can't see Deep Red getting uncut status, Arrow were lucky enough by somehow having a successful appeal against Inferno.

btw Glad the dvd set also has multiple covers...
