Alright, so after all this time, I finally got around to renting this on DVD.
I gotta say, this film is nowhere near as graphic or shocking as I expected. It's definitely grim, but coming from Uwe Boll, I expected something way worse. As far as I can tell, this is actually pretty earnest and tasteful. The film is pretty cheap, has a very limited cast and a small-scale production, so I'm sure people will harp on that. I couldn't tell you how historically accurate any of this is. But the film is pretty short, and book-ended with all kinds of interview footage, so it's less of a film and more of a video essay intended to shake the viewer from apathy. Frankly, I think the film gets the job done. If I give this a rating, it would be a 3/5. I'm sure nobody will give this film the time of day, since it's so freaking cool to hate on Uwe Boll. ![]() That's all I gotta say about that. |

Most of the time or all the time now he uses his money. If it's not successful the the German government would give him his money back. something like that.
edit: i still think he somehow gets back his money Until the law was changed in 2005, Boll was able to acquire funding for his movies thanks to German tax laws that reward investments in film. The law allowed investors in German-owned films to write off 100% of their investment as a tax deduction; it also allowed them to invest borrowed money and write off any fees associated with the loan. The investor was then only required to pay taxes on the profits made by the movie; if the movie loses money, the investor would get a tax writeoff |

Woah this thread rises from the grave.
Riddler, Al has pretty good taste from posts I've read so I'll buy into it. Just have no idea where to look for this film. |

Well, considering all the bad things said about Uwe Boll, I don't even want to watch this, but now I'm curious all things considering that there was one average review of Auschwitz...where can I see this if I even had some kind of chance watching it?

At least after the massive losses of BloodRayne and Dungeon Siege ($60 million budget, $4 million box office in the US), he's not getting large budgets anymore. Now he's churning out the cheap straight-to-DVD stuff that don't need to make that much money to turn a profit. |
