Well, that's lame.

If they ever do release it all on blu-ray, I likely won't buy it. I already own seasons 1-7 on DVD, plus my player is wifi and I stream netflix, so once they're available in blu-ray, I'll just do that.

At this point I think I will just finish out the series with seasons 7-8 on DVD. The eventual Blu Ray set will be nice but ultimately buying the latest seasons in Blu Ray just messes things up on the shelf. Once a complete Blu Ray set is released the DVDs can always be passed to somebody who doesn't have Blu. I'd rather not have to double dip on Blu so that rules out 7-8 for me. Also Netflix is currently streaming seasons 1-7 of 24.

Default 24 season 8-december 14th

Quote:

four months ago we posted a press brief from fox home entertainment, announcing the releases of 24 - season 8 blu-ray disc.the date provided at the time was december 7th, but today fox formally solicited these titles with retailers, and the official street dates given for all three is december 14th. As we previously reported, price for the 4-disc blu-ray disc version (note that the blu box says "six disc", but that appears to be a typo). The bd version features both high-def video (1080p) and high-def sound (english 5.1 dts hd master audio). Extras on each of those include deleted scenes, scene makers, "the ultimate ctu" featurette, and more.

For us non-USA citizens, I wonder if disc 1 will be region locked and all the other discs region free again like season 7

The box looks different than season 7. Either that is a slipcover but looks different. Will they release seasons 1 - 6 on blu-ray soon or a complete set. I wanna collect 24 but only if the rest get on blu-ray.

They already announced a complete set but it's DVD only for now so I wouldn't get my hopes on that. I hope we get seasons 1-6 on Blu-ray. Maybe when the movie get's closer.

1-6 will eventually be on Blu-ray, but not anytime soon i believe.

I was also waiting on the rest of the seasons but Walmart several months back had S1-6 DVD for $15 each so i was tempted and bought them. Also got S7 on Blu-ray as well.

The DVDs will hold me over by then, but will definitely re-buy 1-6 when released on Blu-ray.

Loved the series! will definitely pick up S8.

I would be afraid if as tvshowsondvd seems to think it was only 4 discs ,as that would be putting 6 episodes on each disc

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong thread.. I've been buying all the seasons on DVD so that my complete series collection could be all on one format. But I just got Home Media (retailer) magazine in the mail today with an ad for these releases. It made it sound like only the Complete Series DVD and Season 8 Blu-ray will feature an "all-new chapter" that takes place after the series finale. Ugh. I already have 1-7 on DVD. Annoying, but it looks like I'll be picking this one up on Blu. :/

Awesome news that the entire series is coming out on Blu-ray. Since I already own season 7 on blu, I'm hoping for subsequent individual releases per season, like they did with Battlestar Galactica.

it's not.

Also, Who cares about how they "look on the shelf"? It's the content that matters. And they look fine mixed anyway.

I care about how much space they take up. Especially the first 4 season in their 6-7 flap fold-out digipaks. I'd love the get the new cases for them all.

Hey guys, just a little tidbit ... they are releasing seasons 5, 6, and the TV movie 24: Redemption on Blu-ray for sure.

That came from Rodney Charters, the shows cinematographer. FOX needs motivation to release seasons 1-4, plus those will take a bit more time ... they need extensive work done for the Blu-ray transfer to work right. I guess if the other seasons on Blu-ray sell good, then they will do it.

So that leaves with you at least half of the show on Blu-ray.

I'll be getting the complete DVD series when it comes out, although I have even considered not getting it ... but I'm such a fan of the show, that will be hard to do. And then seasons 7 and 8 on Blu-ray.

Kind of sucks that you have to double dip.

I'll double-dip for those - provided they don't price themselves into oblivion. I bought season 7 on blu, and I intend to buy season 8 on blu. I'd love to upgrade the rest, but I suspect they'll want $50+ per season. I, for one, have no intention of dropping $300 or more on upgrading the older seasons of 24. If they are agressive with the pricing, say $25 per, then I absolutely would. But I think we all know that won't be the case.

I never bought Season 6 or Redemption on DVD. I passed on the former because it was absolutely horrendous and the latter because I figured Fox would include it with the Season 7 set. Apparently not.

I suppose I'll take one for the team and buy Season 6 on Blu-ray if it means getting the first 4 seasons. They better not abandon this series like they did Prison Break and countless other shows.
