I think I am going to wind up waiting a couple of weeks on this, I just have a feeling its going to drop by a few dollars by then. Still super excited to get it though.

I'll have to order it in. Apparently Canada doesn't have a distributor for it. Figures...

Yeah seems like Mongrel Media chickened out from making a Blu-ray of this. I was thanking New Video Group earlier for thinking it was also the Canadian distributor and not having a bilingual packaging, but turns out it was just Amazon.ca selling the US version as they often do.

(Also is it me or if this was the same exact movie except made in Japan, this thread would have almost 10 pages by now?)

Was hard enough getting the price tag sticker from BEST BUY off this slipcover... then come to notice the companies own sticker proclaiming the release is just as bad! Usually the manufacturer stickers come right off.

Takes patience and tape and maybe a hairdryer helps.

Now I'm scared. This made me check New Video Group's history and this is only their second movie on Blu-ray. Interestingly, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog also came with a comic.

I got this coming from Netflix, but I also see that is already available for streaming.

Does anyone know if it is in HD?

From those who purchased the blu early thy seem to say the image and sound is really great so the film should be ok. :-)

Netflix says HD streaming is available on the title page.

I would not stream this movie by any means. It looks beautiful on Blu-ray, and the DTS-MA is also great. You would just lose way too much to compression, when the visual experience has a lot to do with this film's draw. It's like a moving work of art.

I pre-ordered ages ago. Expensive, but it's worth supporting future animated films like this one.

I just watched the blu-ray and it looks and sounds great! Met my expectations having already been blown away seeing it in the theatre. The colors really pop in this film, and there's some good thump in the music and audio.

I wouldn't worry. I have their Dr. Horrible Blu-ray and it is an excellent release with lossless audio and high video bitrate.

Watched it last night and it looked great, one of the nicest looking films visually that I've ever seen. I love how the animation used many basic shapes to make the characters, environment, etc.

LMAO!!! Arcade, isn't your Avatar the Zuni fetish doll from Trilogy of Terror? Scared the crap out of me when I was younger!

If you have any glue left on the slipcase, then I have found that 409 (yes...the cleaner), rubbed liberally on the glue spot and tends to loosen and dissolve it a bit...I've done this with Disney's.

Believe it or not, I'm not really impressed with the slipcase on this release and may opt not to use it...too much "blue" on top and I wish they had picked a better piece of art to use. It seems like it's a bit too big for the BD case as well. And I typically keep ALL of my slips.

We'll see how I feel later.

Not a bad idea to stream, if you want to get an idea if you would like to purchase it. I had already bought it and kept it sealed yesterday and I streamed it last night.

Unless I find it cheaper anywhere else (got it at BB for $24.99), then I'll crack it open this weekend. It was a decent stream, so the BD promises to be amazing.

Yeah...the characters were more simplistic (much like Samurai Jack) and the backgrounds were quite detailed.

If you watch closely, the snow flakes were Celtic symbols...very cool. All the walls throughout the film were strewn with Celtic symbols.

My point is it won't give you an idea of how good the release is. Streaming is not going to reproduce the quality of this Blu-ray release at all. And because and the visuals are such a key part of the film, the 5+ pristine transfers on the BD is an imperative part of the experience. Netflix streaming cannot reproduce this experience... or, to be more accurate, has never been able to in my past experience.

LOL! I believe it all right. I had to ask for this at Best Buy because (not for the first time) they hadn't put out a new release on new release day. As the BB fellow walked towards me the blu logo at the top looked enormous. It is ridiculous - it looks like the format just started and they want to make sure you buy the right thing.

If a slipcover is meant to make the release look more enticing to customers browsing the racks, this is a fail. Lovely disc, though!

Well, I WAS just talking about the hard-to-remove sticker. Considering it seems to be on the case below the slipcover, I might keep it there.

And now some people are disliking the slipcover as well. But I don't think it'll bother me.

Also, Amazon.ca just delayed my order of this movie by TWO WEEKS.

Yeah, thats him! I remember coming home after school (late 70's / early 80's) and they had this movie on in the 4:00 to 5:30PM timeslot (back when you had all of 5-6 channels). It scared the crap out of me as well .
