Inside Llewyn Davis is gorgeous and my favourite impressionistic colour grade in any movie I think.

Out of my head, Drive and Only God Forgives has flawless cinematography. I watched both movies online in 720p and it looks beautiful.

Christopher Doyle

^ probably the best one in the whole world

Lü Cha (Green Tea)
Ruang rak noi nid mahasan (Last Life in the Universe)
Fallen Angels
Chungking Express
Days of Being Wild
Happy Together
In the Mood for Love
Hero
2046
Lady in the Water
Three... Extremes (Dumplings)
etc.etc

I actually choose to watch movies just because he did the cinematography. Was not disappointed once.

I'm the same, I choose films these days based on who is cinematographer rather than director/actors and Doyle is certainly one of my favourites of all time next to Deakins.

Does anyone have any good cinematography reviews / commentaries, maybe youtube based? I used to enjoy reading sight and sound however I have to admit that a lot of it went over my head somewhat, I felt it was quite "high brow" for my meagre grey matter to comprehend.

I watch Every Frame a Painting
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjF...Z6T6sxyFB-5i6A

Although the channel is not about cinematography only.

For overall movie analysis, I can recommend Rob Ager / Collative Learning as well. Some of his reviews are simply amazing. For example his Starship Troopers review. Sadly it was taken by copyright holders on youtube.

Gareth Edwards has a good eye for visuals. That shot with the troops falling out of the carrier in Godzilla was frickin' GORGEOUS.
