Because I spent 2 hours between yesterday and today making the list. I would have thought you would have been happy because I just saved you a bunch of work. Here's the link to the new thread BTW: https://forum.blu-ray.com/blu-ray-mo...ssy-audio.html

The regular run-of the mill formats have been usually either analog optical or lossy digital.

The mods have combined my thread into yours. I did save you a lot of work either way.

Unless I'm mistaken, I didn't see Wyatt Earp on the list. Did I look over it?

Thanks.

Interesting thread. I get frustrated when a title is released without a lossless audio track. For this reason I imported Terminator 3 rather than buy the US version. I was very frustrated that The Island was released with a lossy track (and that it's never been released in the US at all on blu-ray). I resisted buying this title for a long time because of this, but I finally caved and imported it. With non-action oriented movies it's not a huge deal to me, but I still prefer lossless if given the choice.

I think the most irritating releases for me that contain lossy audio are:

Flags of Our Fathers
The Last Samurai (I kept the HD DVD instead of buying the BD because it has DD+ instead of DD)
Million Dollar Baby
Downfall (UK)
Zulu (UK)

Speed Racer is one title which I cannot believe, that they have not yet re-released. They did it with Superman. The PQ of Speed Racer is top demo meterial . Give it a soundtrack that it deserves .

It personally wouldn't bother me as I found the film itself to be wretched, but you are right in that it is reference material in terms of PQ.

I am refusing to purchase Shooter. Really liked the movie, good PQ but only a lossy track! With a title of "Shooter", its just screaming to have a lossless soundtrack .

Yeah, those were the days when Warner and Paramount squeezed as many films as they could on BD-25s by using lossy audio with extras in 480p instead of 1080p. The Last Samurai, Million Dollar Baby, The Wild Bunch and Shooter are all excellent examples of this. About the only time a film can have lossless audio on a BD-25 is it's short (120 minutes or less) and has few or no extras.

I am working on a definitive list right now Tech that has the BD.com link for every title. I will hopefully be done with it soon.

Just hope that they re-release these titles as "Special Editions" on BD-50 discs with lossless track's. So am I going to hold off for a while, until something surfaces.

Concurred..... BDs have plenty of bandwidth under it's hood..... Why not utilize as much as possible of it.

Add Red Baron to this list as well. DD 5.1 640 Kbps (I guess, as far as the bitrate goes)
