They're pirates. Pirates are brutal. Yes, Fairbanks did his own stunts.

Just picked this up, awesome movie. Fairbanks won me over with thief of baghdad. Black pirate might not be quite as epic as Thief but is still a great showing. Very entertaining stuff.

Is this still the only 2-strip technicolor film available on Blu-ray? I really love the way it looks but wish there was more.

Default Love A Deal

I never pay full price for anything. I set a limit of $10 - $11 for this. I had a chance to get it for $12 once, but passed.

Then I guess it became OOP and the price skyrocketed. Of course, no one actually pays those amounts (I hope).

It's been on my wishlist for a long time. Finally someone put up a "watched once" copy for .01 starting bid. It was 3.95 till I bid and I got it for $5.50 TOTAL.

How I love a bargain.

I'm looking forward to seeing this. I have to admit, I LOVE silents, and the only one I've been disappointed in so far was The Thief of Bagdad. I'm hoping for better things with this.

Does anyone have a beat on the German version of this? How does it compare to the Kino? I'd really love to pick up this film, but am not super excited about paying ~$50 eBay prices.

Unfortunately, the German release only has German intertitles for the color version. It does have English audio for the Black & White version, which is why you see it on the back of the case.

Hopefully someone will re-release this film. I remember asking the Kino Lorber insider about it a while back, and they said that is someone releases it again, it will be Cohen, but it was nothing certain. Personally, I'd love it if Eureka decided to put it out.
