You got that right! I love how he always counts the PS3 when calculating disc attach rates, but he DOESN'T count the PS3 when talking about number of Blu-ray players in households.

Ken Graffeo = Butt Monkey. I hereby dub Ken Graffeo forevermore, K.G.B.M!

Edit: May just shorten it to B.M. - you know, for efficiency's sake.

The Grafeneno guy is really something else. I have a Sony XBR4 46 inch, and a PS3 (purchased in June 17) I now have 34 Blu Rays in my possession, 15 in transit (purchased from amazon this week), and many others in preorder. Ohhhh...I have three games. I guess that the 7 movies I am buying on the 18th won't count huh?

If they are going to be played on your PS3 then you can't count them. Sorry, those are Graffeo's new rules...

Default Graffeo

I'm also a Ps3 owner who bought my PS3 for movies and a couple games like Metal Gear Solid 4... I'm also a hifi enthusiast and a p.c user. The Ps3 is great for Bds, streaming pictures, music or videos to my livingroom setup. (In the near future home theatre recievers may replace some of these aspects of a Ps3 for my home use...) However, any new hidef format co-chairman(or whatever Graffeo is) who claims that a device that offers all of these features isn't relevant to the format war because it is a gaming device foremost and only so so many owners of the Ps3 use it for movies is definately missing the big picture!

Oh and by the buy: My Ps3 is contributing in scientific research! But that's only another reason why Sony doesn't deserve to have the successor format to dvd! (Graffeo, you're a twat!)

its clear that IFA is about Europe.

From this you can conclude that the BDA are serious about there rollout into europe, and going by the IFA show are about to begin the euro phase with due haste, up until now its just been idling along with the PS3. Now the BDA are upping the game.

HD-DVD is intent on the North American market, that seems to be there interest. heck even now the amount of HD-DVD titles in say the UK is tiny compared to blu ray. This show inspires almost no confidence in HD-DVD for Euro film fans. I think i see why its so important for the HD-DVD standard to be region free.

Im guessing HD-DVD will have more for CEDIA, as this caters to there only real market.
The BDA will also have new news as the NA market is well ahead of the european market so should get all the REAL annoucments that filter down to europe about six mths later.

Cedia should still be big for the BDA, IFA was just to get the euro ball rolling.

and of course KEN G wants to ignore the gaming market. If he incudes it all his reasoning flies out of the window.

Default Spiderman Trilogy should keep blu ray dominant.

I am a fairly new ps3 owner, with 11 titles on blu ray to purchase. s Spiderman 3 Trilogy will convince most non movie buying ps3 owners to start a blu ray collection.

I own a PS3 and have 14 blu-ray movies. I have had my PS3 since Jan 1st and just bought my first game, Lair, yesterday. And I only bought the game because GTAIV got delayed.

Next to the summary of Toshiba's claim that HD DVDs will cost less was an advert for 300 on blu and HDDVD -- with the price of the latter $4.00 more. Some irony.

If i owned HD-DVD then i'd probably switch to Blu right now. HD-DUD can't win, why can't they accept that.

you bet, and with all the new players coming its only going to get worse. What amazes me if you look at AVS and places like that the people making the most fuss about BD player prices or the profile issues are HD-DVD supporters. (sure the profile issue is a concern, but its somthing we all know will be addressed).

(as you know, look at AVforum famous few, who are the most verbal about the profile issues?, its the so say dual format owners who prefer HD-DVD cough)
