Heh. Far more than that. The entire movie is an origins tale. He doesn't really fulfill his journey til the end.

Tyger started this thread as a discussion on what people would like to see in future Batman films...let's not let it degenerate into yet another thread with trashing of the Burton/Schumacher/Nolan films.

Let's have some good discussion on what you guys want for Batman's future in film

I have a theory that this Beast guy is pulling a lengthy Jacquin Pheonix/I'm Still Here performance of epic lengths of staying in character, but really loves the Nolan flicks!

Brad Bird. I think just as Nolan was a left field pick at the time, Bird would be as well.

My fear is they'll give it to Goyer, but if one of the Nolan brothers co-writes it, it may not be so bad.
The first two sound like great choices to me. Vaughn can definitely pull off the gritty aspect that would be cool to see. Though, I wonder how tied up he will be in the X-Men universe he will be in the next several years. I don't know how quickly the Batman franchise will start up again, but I hope within the same distance that Nolan puts between films.

Bird certainly handle superheroes and superhero groups (Justice League?). I'll have to see what he does in live-action with MI:IV or The Mission

Nolan is the only director to sucessfully provide a captivating and modern spin on the Batman franchise. I have little faith that a post-Nolan Batman reboot will be able to even compare to Nolans monumental take.

And just for the record, Tim Burtons "Batman" was the only decent pre-Nolan approach to the character and even with Nicholson being the legend that he is - I still think that the Nolan/Ledger Joker more accurately potrayed what the character stood for an encapsulated his persona to the tee.

Batman the animated series potrayal is by far the best pre-Nolan Batman.

The post Nolan Batman should be a version like the Batman from Justice League. He should be in his 40s and should have been Batman for a long time. Nolan covered the beginnings of Batman perfectly so there is no need to revisit that. Robin should already be Nightwing and Batman should a secluded loner. While a participating and respectful member of the Justice League when he thinks they need him he should not be the easiest to work with due to his a-social personality.

If not I think a Batman Beyond live action movie could work great as well.

Oh. I understand it. I just find the film dreadful. Plus it's featuring Christian Bale, who is terrible.

+1.

I'd prefer Snyder making Lobo

I think that post-Nolan, Batman should be left alone for a while before a reboot/continuation. When the next batch of Batman movies is made, it should tie into the greater DC universe. Rebooting the franchise into another closed universe is unneccesary and would be a poor decision.

Bite me, fanboy bastiches.
A Lobo movie would rock my socks if they went with Giffen style scripts.

I agree Batman Beyond should be the next set of Batman movies but not with Nolan. I want the next directors take on things.

Agreed. Nolan nailed Batmans beginnings and his relationship as a lone protector of Gotham so well that any attempt to re-create them would be a redundent waste. Thats why the only logical post Nolan Batman would be to bring Batman in a radical new direction while still maintaining the dark mature tone of Nolans movies.
