Yes, future proof it. It has both versions. I doubt on release date it;'ll be any more expensive as noone much will get the 2d only.

I'm going to get the 3D version even though I don't have a 3D TV. I saw this in 3D at the theatre and thought it was great, and really just can't imagine it being as good in 2D. I hate all that post converted 3D garbage, but since this was actually filmed in 3D I'll definitely make sure to get it in 3D and future proof it for when I eventually get a 3D TV. I always thought 3D was a gimmick till I saw what REAL 3D was all about, here's hoping they do more of it and less of that post converted junk.

I nearly have a different opinion for Real 3D. It was my first time watching a movie in 3D after many years. (when I was about 5 yrs old I watched the Disneyland Michael Jackson movie and Honey I Shrunk the Audience, IMAX Space Shuttle documentary, and Universal's Terminator imax).

15 years later, I am about to watch a movie in 3D and was really hyped for it. However by the end of the movie I felt underwhelmed. While it was pretty neat that it added some depth to the movie, it wasn't what I was expecting. I was hoping for effects that appear to reach out the screen and touch you. Instead those were very few and far between. I felt more like I was watching a Live pop-up book which isn't what I imagine when I hear "3D".

I think it's just an option and not a necessary way to watch movies... at least until they improve the effects. I'll be giving IMAX a try when Tron Legacy comes out.

Also
[Show spoiler]Sienna Guillory's
screentime was such a big disappointment.

What is the difference between each edition (besides 3d)?

Yes they should. However, you can still encounter some issues.

I cant wait to get this movie I have liked all the Resident Evil movies to some extent and yes I am a big fan of the games as well(one of the few who likes both I guess) I am not sure which version to get but I know it will be a day 1 buy for me. I love Milla and she looked hot and kicked ass in this movie Ali as well. The Action scenes were entertaining and it was just a fun movie to watch. It was very light on plot though so those that want a complex storyline look elsewhere. I really hope walmart has a steelbook to go with the other three RE movies and their steels if not I will buy the regular version and import a steel

cant stand long duration of 3d IMAX so the 2d BD is welcomed for me. Fan of the series also.

im sure there will be a walmart steel, but it wont be on release day. no, theyll go for the double dip. after much debate ill get the 3d combo pack. this is how the studios should do it. i dont have a 3d set, but once i hit ten 3d movies in my collection, i may have to make the leap.

love this flick

I have a dad that's a big fan of the Resident Evil movies, but we missed out on Afterlife. The 3d version something for futureproofing

Hmm, looking at that the extras look the same, and the 3D version has 3D + 2D.

Default Japanese editions

Looks like there will be a nice looking collector's edition in Japan http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%83%90%E3...0370662&sr=1-6

and also a box containing all 4 movies http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%83%90%E3...0370682&sr=1-2

however I'm not sure if the collector's edition will contain the 2D or 3D version, can someone please confirm this ?

I guess the only difference is that you end up paying a few pounds more for the 3D/2D edition than the basic 2D release. I'm surprised they bother with the 2D release at all.

I'll be getting the 3D version. I saw Afterlife in IMAX 3D and it was the best 3D experience I have had (much more fun than Avatar and Saw 3D). I don't have a 3D TV or a 3D blu-ray player yet but this will be the first movie I watch when I do.

I'm still pondering whether to buy or not to buy this movie. I love the first 3 parts and the 4th wasn't bad, but I was disappointed about the ending, which was a little boring.

That collectors edition with the executioner rocks. I was almost going to put in an order but it comes out to $94 American and that's a bit too much for me.
