I cant understand all the haters of saw series. Saw is awesome the stories always been solid and on point. Plus its diffrent from all the crapy horror movies studios have been putting out. Since the 80's and early 90's theres been crap for good movies saw was fresh air to the stink that is hollywood.

the only time I wanted it to be over was five. that was the low point in the series. after that the movies went back to being good so I'm okay with them going on.

I view sequels like a show getting another season. most shows can at least provide three good seasons if they had a good idea to begin with. horror movies have such a formula that having a ton of entries for the most part works.

also sequel > remake. rather hear about a sequel than a movie being remade.

Theres a million ways they could continue but the story would get thinner and thinner....and thinner....

Saw VI's poor opening was the reason they decided Saw 3D was going to be the last.

Of course the first Saw was going to open low. No one had any idea of what they were in for.

But you are right. Regardless of what they open with...they will always make a profit. But I am assuming they have a certain marker of profit they dont want to go below.

And to the poster below you. Kevin is gone for sure. After what they did to him with Saw 3D I doubt he is going to return. Which means they would have to turn to David Hackl! Which would suck.

I realy like the Saw franchise. At least all the movies are connected by 1 big storyline, and the twists at the end are usually good. Saw III was my least favorite because there was no twist at the end, and in the last movie you knew what the twist would be after watching the first scene.

A Saw 8 would be possible with lots of flashbacks but they should end it and release all movies in a nice Blu-ray box at a reasonable price. I'd definitely buy that. (only have 1 to 3 on DVD)

Its up to Cary Elwes if this series is to continue. I'm waiting for the eventual reboot / remake.

What about 'Saw: Untold Victims' where they fill in the 6 month gap between events in Saw 3 and 4, as Eric Matthews was a prisoner of Jigsaw for that long.

So the reason that Saw 6 bombed at the box office wasn't due to the fact that the fans stayed away in droves because it was the worst of the series! Saw should have ended (and does to my mind) with No.5 Got the superb limited edition Saw Goreology box set (£15 from CEX) the other day. Will probably pick up the Saw 1 special edition on BD and leave it at that.

Anything is possible, but I think they should leave it at Saw 3D, any more would just fail at the box office because it would have been done seven times before...

Game Not Over: Could 'Saw' Creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell Return to Franchise?

Quote:
Last October Lionsgate swore up and down that they were releasing Jigsaw's final game in Saw 3D. With that, and to the dismay of some fans, the finale didn't quite close the door, and left things wide open.

Over the years, franchise creators James Wan (director) and Leigh Whannell (writer/star) have been extremely open about their desires to return to the games they created back in 2004. In fact, Wan has stated that the first film was only 30% what he envisioned (budget and time affected it).

With the release of Insidious, Wan and Whannell spoke with IGN about their desire to end the game "right", so to speak.

And before I send you off to watch the video, did anybody else notice the Billy (the puppet) drawing in the background of the classroom in the duo's Insidious? Yup, it's there and rocks a drawing of a #8 underneath. Food for thought.

Video inside, and then, TALK!

As much as I loved the first 6, I was really disappointed with how 7 turned out. I did enjoy it in theaters, but haven't been able to make it all the way through it again since I bought the blu-ray. It didn't really seem like a Saw film IMO.

I'd GLADLY have James Wan and Leigh Whannell come back on board and make a SERIOUS final chapter to this series. I understand the mess that happened before 7 started filming with the director being pulled from Paranormal Activity 2 and shoehorned into this one at the last second. Not to mention Lionsgate making the writers combine Saw 7 and 8 into this one last film that totally pissed off a lot of the hardcore fans that stuck with the series.

I stopped watching after I-III... Thank God I didn't pay to go see IV (though I was just about to!).

I don't need to see another Saw movie, thank you very much.

Default Saw 8

damn when I just thought these movies were over for good

Quote:
Lionsgate developing an eighth entry in the Saw franchise

It may seem like it has been longer than three years since there was last a SAW movie in theaters, but it was only in 2010 that SAW 3D effectively ended the long run of the series. Now, with the only horror franchise out there being PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, Lionsgate is looking into bringing back the elaborate torture horror series created by Leigh Whannell and James Wan.
Bloody Disgusting reports that the studio is not rushing SAW 8 and is rather looking for a creative and fresh way to bring the movies back to audiences. There is no word on whether this would in fact be a continuation of what had been an annual series or if this would turn out to be a reboot. With only three years since the seventh entry in the series, I think a reboot is a bit hasty, but then again THE DARK KNIGHT RISES came out last year and BATMAN VS SUPERMAN hits screens in less than two years.
Horror franchises like FRIDAY THE 13TH, HALLOWEEN, and A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET have all tried to reboot for a new generation to less than stellar results. It remains to be seen if audiences will still flock to see SAW for an eighth time, but seeing as they do not cost a lot to produce and bring in enough box office to make it worthwhile, I would expect SAW 8 by next Halloween.

We talked a bit about it before in This thread...But I'm still not sure why we need it, honestly. It feels like they should really just leave it alone at this point.
