Gamespot @ Square Enix Party 2007 Mega Theater

Next was a snippet of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete a new, expanded version of the popular computer-animated film. Quelle surprise, the film will be released on Blu-ray Disc, the PS3's proprietary format, later this year in Japan. No US release date was given for the movie.

Gamespot being useless with the details as usual, time to look for a description from a real enthusiast.

In case you haven't heard, there's a director's cut version of Advent Children is coming to Blu-Ray. It'll have new footage that didn't make it into the previously released version of the CG movie.

In the trailer we saw all kinds of new scenes. During the motorcycle chase towards the end of the movie, Kadaj uses a never-used-before gun on his bike to fire at Cloud. Also, when Cloud and Sephiroth are fighting, Sephiroth stabs Cloud in the shoulder, and picks him up with the sword. These are just some of the interesting snippets we were teased with. I'm sure more will make into the final movie. Even though no release day for the U.S. has been announced, I'm almost positive it has to be coming here. Considering that HD absorption is pretty big in the U.S., it's too big of market to ignore. We'll keep you posted and details trickle in.

Apparently the quality of the visuals is being improved, I thought the intro scene with Red XIII running then jump/climbing in the mountains looked particularly bland on DVD so I hope they're working on that.

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete
This is the new Blu-Ray special edition of FFVII:AC, dubbed "FFVII:ACC". The content is described as something that can be enjoyed all over again, because the visuals have not only been improved and some scenes have been re-edited in different ways that will make it completly new. The trailer shows off many of the new angles and cuts for the scenes and improvements.

There's not even a scriptwriter, just "scenario editor", meaning they simply decided who would fight whom in what order and wrote something fast to get from a-b

Advent Children being all CG should mean one of the best transfers it will be intersting to see if 2 Uncompressed PCM tracks will be included the Original Japanese or just the English. Hopfully it's both they should have enough space with a 50 gig disk.

If the audio and picture are anything like Spirits Within, then we will all be impressed (I'll pick it up anyways).

I registered for the notification on when it is available for pre-order, from sites like play.com. Hopefully I will get e-mails as soon as it is available.

A Blu-Ray Advent Children will certainly tip the scales in Sony's favor. Even if they lose on the sales, this could be a movie that would move systems in Japan. I expect them to capitalize on the FFVII fandom, as it is the 10th anniversary (and they are marketing FFVII: Crisis Core for the PSP). I'd expect a grand Blu-Ray of FFVII:ACC for this 10th anniversary.

So is there any update on the release of FFVII:AC?
I would import this if I have to (as long as it is subtitled)!
