If anything I learned to wait for deals on Blus. No longer am I going to buy movies on release day. Unless it is a must have like Inception. I will wait for deals from now on.

1) A movie as unbelievably hyped as Avatar could actually meet my expectations

2) I got too hyped into the 3-D thing. Avatar was a blast in theaters, but the cheap cash-ins are killing it. The 3-D tv's were pretty disappointing when I finally got to see one for the first time

3) While 2010 (personally) was a complete sh*t fest for summer movies, I discovered how wonderful Scott Pilgrim vs The World was, and Clash of the Titans remains a huge guilty pleasure of mine

4) Did You Hear About The Morgans? was one of the worst movies ever made. Thanks, girlfriend.

5) Chris Nolan somehow followed up TDK with an equally brilliant movie.
#5 seems to directly contradict #3.

haha thanks for pointing that out! I agree that seems like they contradict. While 2010 did have some decent movies, the amount of true quality movies was disappointing to say the least for me. I think 2011 will make 2010 look like poo especially if Thor delivers how I HOPE it will!

That promising to stop buying films ( except special exceptions) is a waste as I continue to spend about as much per month as the GDP of a small country.

That I have enjoyed my bd player so much since getting it in 2009 that it's made me happy, sad but true, as hobbies should be.

1.) I read recently that the Criterion Collection's licensing rights for DVD and Blu-Ray are different. Just because it's on one format doesn't mean it can/will be on another. I took it as a sign to immediately buy Criterion movies I wanted before they go out-of-print unexpectedly or something (better to have a DVD than to have no copy at all while waiting for a Blu-Ray that may never come).

2.) Never underestimate the power of a Black Friday sale. Blu-Rays for $8.00?!! Blu-Rays for $5.00?!!!! NO FREAKING WAY!!!! CHEAPEST MOVIES EVER!!!!

3.) Disc exchange programs are your friend. "Gladiator" never looked better; "Saving Private Ryan" never sounded better.

4.) Heck, sometimes it's better to wait and see if a disc gets recalled. Especially with the Sapphire Series.

5.) Blind-buys can be a great boon or a terrible attrocity. It should be handled with careful research. I probably could have lived without blind-buying "Gamera" for $5, but blind-buying "The Magician" for $20 turned out to be a good deal. Here's hoping that my blind-buy for "Inception" turns out to be a good one...

1) That DNR is indeed BD's most dangerous adversary.

2) Wait at least a few weeks after the release of most BDs and one will save $5 or more.

3) That 3D BD in the home in its present form is already failing.

4) Netflix thinks its customers cannot perform basic math skills when it comes to their price increases.

5) Even Blockbuster can get bailout money.

6) Teenagers and 'Avatar Worshipers' like DNR.

I think that about does it.

Do you enjoy Memento, The Matrix, Dark City, and The Dark Knight? If so, you're probably good to go because it is basically a combination of those movies.

I learned that even if its a movie I don't particularly care for but my wife really enjoys it, I'm still OCD enough to have to own it on Blu-ray, and I can't just buy the DVD... thank you Twilight, Notorious, and The Blind Side.

I've learned that I don't have to have slipcovers for everything that originally came with slips, even though I do like collecting them (usually means I pay more for the disc, grrrrrr)

I've learned to not Blind Buy, didn't do it much with DVD unless the movie was only 2 or 3 bucks, but paying $20.00 for Public Enemies and then not being able to hear half the movie really irritated me.

I've learned that I enjoy movies WAY more in Hi Def with surround sound... I watch a lot more movies now than I EVER did when all I had was a DVD player and a SD TV.

I've learned that after you get around the few trolls on Blu-ray.com almost everyone on this site can really help you out when you have a dilemma in one fashion or another.

One other thing, I've learned how much DNR really irritates me. When I first bought GoNY and Gladiator, I thought they looked pretty good, but after reading all the crap about them, and really paying attention to them while watching, I've noticed DNR and EE much much more to the point that I get very upset when I see it.

Thanks Blu-ray.com members for being there when I had questions, then turning me into a movie SNOB

Edit: I will be Blind buying Inception tho b/c I think Nolan is AWESOME!

I learned that that when you finally get a BD movie that you want, the next moment you see its price drop significantly.
I also learned that I hadn't learned yet where I can get the remastered Gladiator online.

That Disney by far is the best studio for treating their loyal fans with giving us $10 off coupons and countless number of promotions and always delivering first rate blu rays with flawless picture and audio quality along with great special features!

That Dreamworks takes way too ****ing long to release a movie on blu ray because Shrek and HTTYD were over 6 month waits from theaters to blu ray.

Looking forward to 2011:Last but not least George Lucas will still never put out a half way decent release of the original cuts of the OT on Blu Ray, and frankly I would prefer to have both the theatrical and the SE versions on blu ray because I actually do enjoy the SE, but I just wish he would give the fans both versions I gladly would pay the extra $$$

I've learned that I really hate MGM, but I might have already known that last year, can't remember.
