ROCK ON

This is my kind of group now! I think I'll get to 99 blu's and just stop......that way I can stay in this group.....either that, or I'll just stop putting them on my list at 99

I stopped buying dvds, I buy new titles on blu, and replace dvds that are alltime favorites of mine. I also never blind buy.

I have over 600 dvds or so, because Ive been collecting for a very long time.

I only buy Blu's that are really really worth it

Well...as you can see...this will be my first and last post (at 138 as of today).

The object is "quality" over "quantity"...I've been collecting since late spring/early summer of 2008, but only hit 100 a few months ago. Mostly thanks to animation titles and the Barnes and Noble Criterion Collection sales.

Good luck and have fun...just save enough cash for food!

PS...if you purchase a "multi-region" BD player...all bets are off! I bought a Momitsu 799 a couple of months ago and have already added 1/2 dozen UK titles that are region "B" and have my eyes on more.

Man I tore hollywood video up when they were having those killer sales lol. I got blade runner with all of the discs for like $6.00. That sale was rediculous, and they actually had some good titles.

I'm in!

I've had my Sony blu-ray player since September 2009. Money isn't a limiting factor to my collecting. I just take my time and only buy the ones that I really want. I have over 100 DVDs, and was collecting them from 2001 until I got my Blu-Ray player. It's all about quality over quantity, folks.

Im in - and hopefully in for a long time. Been mostly a collector of animation films (for the kids ) I found myself picking up classics and movies I grew up with. Only have 1 or two movies that I regret buying but I think most of my purchases were $15 or less.

Great suspence collection you got there. I LOVED THE MIST, until that ending. Worst ending in movie history. Well, what I mean to say is....I've NEVER seen a movie ending that made me THAT mad in all my life.

The INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS came close, but this one topped it. LOL.

Mine was Close Encounters.

A good way to build up a collection is to budget yourself every week and look for the best bargins for every release

Im stuck at around 90 blus and it will take me a long time to get to 100. I just dont buy a lot of movies. Rentals are fine for 95% of whats out there. Most films, IMO can be watched once, enjoyed and then quickly forgotten about. I dont get how people have 500++ movies. When do watch tme all? Do you actuaolly watch them or is it more of just having the impressive looking medis shelf?

About half of muy owned titles are films that the kids or wifey wants to own. If I was single Id be at like 45-50 movies.

I agree. If I was concerned with quantity I would have picked up those budget crap titles like Mega Shark, Supernova etc I see at Best Buy. Or films on sale like 300 that are on sale for $4.99 at the moment. But why buy a film I know I will not watch again.

That's what was so fantastic about The Mist. It did not take the normal Hollywood ending. It was a brilliant ending IMO. Also good luck on reaching the the goal of 100+ to everyone in this thread.

I think we had a long discussion (more like fighting) about the ending of The Mist

One problem you guys who complain that 500+ collections have too much trash is that you dont seem to realize that there are more than 100 movies out there that are worth a watch at least ones in ones lifetime, and if you have enough money and time, than by all means why wouldnt you buy it?

P.S. I dont have a too big collection myself and dont plan too, but I can see myself owning 300 blus some day.

I agree with the "quality over quantity" premise and like I said, with my low income for buying home entertainment, its really a good thing I don't need to own every new title and every title that gets raved about. Like Casablanca etc. I'm not a "bluray aficionado". I'm just a blu convert that loves how I can enjoy my favorite movies like never before!

Movies like Inception and Avatar and such aren't even really wanted ones to own, but some things are basically designed to be bluray or bust. It's just a decision whether I will rent Inception every time I wanna see it. And with avatar I think I will buy the 3D version to utilize my 3D setup.

We'll see how long I manage to stay here during the holiday season

Up until I month or so ago I had only purchased 32 blus during the year that I had my PS3.

Then black friday came along and my blu collectoritis set in. Once the last few remaining packages arrive this week, I will have tripled the number of blu's in my collection in just a week

Tis a love/hate relationship with this website I tell ya
