I honestly can't understand why all the hate on this movie and all the love for Alice. When both are well done conversions considering they were pretty much first gen 3d titles. I wasn't really impressed with the 3d when viewed at the theaters but at home on my Panny I felt it was great for a conversion. I'm looking forward to the sequel which will be native. If the pirahna effects looked good to me converted than the next one will be nice.

I get my 3dtv tomorrow and I'm going to watch so much 3d content!!! I hate the 3D at the movies, they tend to suck. I am excited to see how the tv I ordered works!!

3D is woeful. Ghosting here and there. Virtually flat. Get this when you get the other 3D must haves. I like the story though.

I can't recommend this movie at all, I bought it when I was still hungry to aquire 3D blu's and expected something more fun but the movie itself did little for me. The 3D was not impresive and frankly I was at least expecting better boobs or some pop out with said better boobs.

I watched this the other night and thought it was terrific. The 3D effects were great and the story while goofy was pretty good. I don't know if I would have enjoyed this watching it on 2D but the 3D version was a hoot to watch.

I know exactly how you feel The aquatic scene would have been epic if it was done right, with landscape and plants on the background to add depth. Then make a bit longer with some close shots and more angles.

Also, they clipped out the yellow Mustang scene which would have provided a nice 3D pop.

It's something I'll keep though until Piranha 3DD comes out.

The sequel they are making is called Piranha 3DD
Yes, as in double-d.
Apparently the makers of these films really want to step up the breast production value for the sequel.

I doubt I will be watching the sequel. Maybe way down the road if I see a real cheap price on it but there is enough 3D content that I don't feel the need to see a sequal.

Just watched the trailer for the sequel, it looks like it may well be a better more enjoyable movie but I'll still be waiting til I can pick it up for like $15 or less.

The movie is a mindless slaughter of insane amounts of blood and gore near the end, with some goofy looking special fx, as it was all intended.

The 3D, for a 2D to 3D conversion, most of the time has good depth. The pop outs don't work though most of the time, because whoever did the conversion, didn't do it right (see the Piranha Title in the beginning for a perfect example of how they weren't able to get it right), but despite the good depth in most of the film, there are some pretty big errors here and there if you look close enough. I still don't think even a decent number of errors can ruin the 3D, so if you like mindless gore with plenty of beach babes, this is worth a watch in 3D.

I can't say I enjoyed the film other than the parts where the piranhas attacked all the idiots in the water. I liked that part the best!

At first I didnt realise Piranha was a conversion .. then I put it in the player! The opening scenes were just awful!!! But it all settled down after that and I was rather happy with it overall .. fun film that doesnt try to be anything else to me.

Just posting this because I am interested in the technical aspect of it:

Watching the 2D version with my friend and he picked up a moment when the 3D effect appears. It is a really brief moment when the little girl is trapped on the island and is waving her hands in the air for help. Her hands waving are showing the 3D visual effect.

Anyone else notice this?

This was on the UK BD.

It's possible that was just motion artifacting from the movement of her hands. There's no reason why only her hands would show separation, assuming a double image somehow got into the 2D encode anyway.

I don't know how to explain it, but it was not motion artifacting, at least not any motion artifacting I have ever witnessed. My friend has a 3D TV and it looked like the 3D effect to him.

i watched the movie in 2d about a month ago and something weird definitely happened during a scene where the girl is on the beach. from what i recall it did look like a 3d image for a second or two. that was the canadian 3d/2d disc.

Thanks for posting. So it seems it is some sort of glitch on all the 3D/2D disks.

I still haven't picked up this disc yet. I'm wondering if they'll package it with the new sequel as a 2 pack for a bargain price.

That's what I was hoping for, but I haven't seen a mock-up of them packaged together yet, so it probably won't happen.
