or what villians do you think will be in the movie. A team of villians vs. avengers
or like 1 main villian and his henchmen vs. avengers?
don't know, for me it would depend on what is done in Captain America. If the Avengers are formed (or at least show up in modern days with CA) in the CA film then it does not matter, but if CA takes place completely in the past or without the Avengers, then I hope they have a villain like the Red Skull to explain them going after, finding and saving CA.

Default Ant Man Moving Forward

Source:Twitter, Edward Douglas February 9, 2010

Quote:
While Marvel Studios is moving full steam ahead with Kenneth Branagh's Thor and Joe Johnston has been all over the place talking about his The First Avenger: Captain America this past weekend, there's still one very elusive missing piece to the Avengers puzzle, and that would be... Ant-Man!

A movie about the diminutive Avenger, Dr. Hank Pym, who is in fact one of the charter members of the team, has been in the works for some time. In fact, Edgar Wright was on hand at that very same Marvel Studios Comic-Con panel back in 2006 when Jon Favreau and Louis Letterier were first talking about their upcoming projects Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk. (You can read our interview from those times here.)

When Disney bought Marvel, there were some rumors Pixar might take over the project, but those were swiftly denied by John Lasseter, so that puts Ant-Man back into Wright's hands, having developed the project with Joe Cornish quite a bit before shifting his focus to Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.

Apparently, Stan "The Man" Lee, the co-creator of Ant-Man, met with Wright for lunch today, something that Lee proudly recapped on his Twitter feed with two intriguing tweets:

To make up for my previous grievous error, here's a little item that may have escaped you. Marvel is prepping a movie starring-- Ant Man!

and

I had lunch with the cool, young director Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead) and, as you'd imagine, we had fun discussing the tiny hero

Now of course, it could just be a coincidence that they were having lunch and talking about Ant-Man, but Lee stating that Marvel is prepping the movie seems to indicate they're finally moving forward now that Wright is putting the finishing touches on Scott Pilgrim.

Here's hoping Stan Lee isn't being the tease we've known him to be since he started writing Stan's Soap Box.
Sure hope this really is moving forward.

One thing I'm a wee bit confused about is, if Disney produces this movie through Marvel Productions, doesn't that mean that Paramount can't use Ant Man in their Avengers movie because they don't have the rights to the character. Or did Paramount get ALL the Avengers characters for a number amount of films in the deal with Marvel before the acquisition by Disney?

Because I thought if Disney produced this movie - then Paramount wouldn't be able to use the Ant-Man character...

This is so confusing.

No, Marvel Studios is the production company. Marvel is making it. Since Marvel is making it, it's all good.

It's yet another tie-in with the Avengers, and that makes it cool.

True, but I don't think we need a movie for every Avenger. What's next, The Wasp, Vision?

Marvel hasn't done too bad so far. They 2 for 3 right now. (Iron Man and Incredible Hulk were good....Punisher: War Zone....not so much.)

Not sure if Wasp would get a film but Eva Longoria was rumored for the character quite a while back. She was seen leaving Marvel with Avengers comics. Probably rumors for the sake of rumors.

A tad goofy around the edges, but they finally got the character right.
It had to happen just once.

Well, y'see...
I remember seeing Stan at a convention back in '90, right after the Dolph Lundgren "Punisher" came out, back when New World Pictures owned the company, and Marvel was getting all hoped up about a Wolverine movie maybe leading into an X-Men sequel (nah, those'll never happen!).

Stan started talking about all the projects he wanted to greenlight, like a TV series for Dazzler, Brigitte Nielsen finally going ahead with that "She-Hulk" pilot, a "The Return of Captain America" stage musical that had nothing to do with the Avengers ("Y'see, he's sitting in his apartment retired, because nobody wants superheroes anymore, and one day he gets a call..."), and his big project, "Ant-Man: the Movie"?
Oh, we asked, so Henry Pym was finally getting some respect?--Well, no, he said, it wasn't the whole origin, but this other scientist who develops shrinking particles and has trouble crossing the street!
(The reaction of the core comic-con audience?: "...SECURITY?? ")
Most of these ideas stayed buried until Lionsgate bought up all Stan's old 90's ideas by way of Artisan buying New World, and pretended they were real, so there!

So anyway, the real Marvel now wants to do every single solo Avenger movie leading up to the group movie--
And yep, somebody leafing through the wrong old memo had to go and say it: "Hey, didn't Stan once say he wanted to do an Ant-Man movie?" (Picture the fans waving "SHH!--Will...you..just..!")
Fortunately, they had no idea what he was talking about out of context, and probably thought he really DID mean Hank & Janet to lead into the Avengers canon, so we're probably safe. But boy, Stan was scary back then.

Marvel Studios didn't do Punisher. That was one of the "co-productions" like Spider-Man and X-Men.

Marvel Studios is still 2 for 2.

I thought Ant Man had been canned.

The Avengers has enough main characters as it is (Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, Cap, Nick Fury and maybe War Machine/Black Widow, not sure how big their roles are,....plus the villainS), I don't think they need to add more. It'll become too bloated.

They had planned to do a sequel to the John Travolta Miami thingy and "get it right" by putting it back in NYC--
But by that point, the Lionsgate deal had pretty much folded after 1-1/2 movies and some animateds, so Marvel had pretty much taken back overseeing the project, and gave us the house-approved version, while LG was "allowed" to make it.
That's how it ended up back Right again.
