Instead of criticizing the studios, we should be congratulating them for going as deep as they have in a relatively short amount of time.

If I were working for a studio on the BD release schedule and I was only concerned with P&L and not with film history or aesthetics, I'd probably be releasing far less - only the titles that were practically guaranteed to do well.
18% actually.

The #10 DVD did around 18% also.

He won't pay attention, I pointed out the same stuff last time he made the same dumb claim. He just does not want to deal with reality.

well this turned out to be a more depressing thread than I expected when I opened it. I don't often think about back catalog movies on blu, but man there are some classics mentioned here.

edit: bidding over Almost Famous is just ridiculous. A recent movie, ok. I loved the movie, but come on now.

I say bravo to Sony for their catalogue releases and how much care they take in the PQ and AQ.

The only thing about Sony that annoys the hell out of me is all the lossless dubs they put on their releases. I mean really? Such a waste.

I agree as well. Its all about MONEY. If it is not cost effecient then it is not going to happen!!! Its great that we have what we do on Blu-ray. I would love to see more released myself but with the older catalog titles its kind of a hit or miss situation. Funny how some movies do not do good at all at the box office but DVD/BLU-ray sales far exceed the numbers the studio thought they would see. Yes we know why that is considering what it cost to go out to the movies, but yet people are still willing to drop $15.00 or $20.00 for the disc.
