I'm sure with the shooting and killing also kept it from a "G" rating.

I'm hoping they do a decent transfer. I saw the transfer they did with Dirty Harry, Every Which Way But Loose ... the PQ wasn't all that great. Hopefully this will be a better transfer.

The Outlaw Josey Wales on blu-ray! This is great news!
Now paramount needs to release "Paint Your Wagon"!

From the moment I got a BD player, I had two questions: "When will The Outlaw Josey Wales" be out?" and "When will Barry Lyndon be out?"

This is my favorite Eastwood film and on my short list of greatest movies ever. This is the kind of personal favorite of mine where the DigiBook format is wonderful, giving the sense of classic book put on a shelf to be taken down again and again as the mood strikes. I hope the transfer does justice to cinematographer Bruce Surtees's warm and glowing photography.

Bye the way has anyone ever seen the made for TV sequel Return of Josey Wales with Michael Parks playing the title role? I am curious how horrible it may be or if it was actually a decent story...........

I'm a huge fan of keeping te original poster art for movie covers. I just don't understand why 95% of the time it seems like when a movie is re-released it's minus the classic cover art.

Pretty much all the re-releases of Clint's movies on dvd/blu ray have lost their original cover art from the older Clint Eastwood Collection releases.

As a HUGE Clint fan I do need that movie for my collection but doubt I want to pay more than $5 for it (which is what most of Clint's dvds can be had for at Wal-Mart).

Now as for movies they need to add to blu ray...Escape From Alcatraz along with Thunderbolt And Lightfoot are both out of print on dvd and arguably two of Clint's more underrated movies, especially Alcatraz, which is one of my top 10 favorite Clint movies.

Robert Harris has reviewed this transfer at his other home. It's a short review about the transfer mostly and he says:

Quote:
Warner's new Blu-ray is gorgeous. Terrific color, excellent shadow detail and blacks, along with a stable image that looks much like projected film.

A 1976 production doesn't get much better looking than this.

Highly Recommended.
Really looking forward to it now. Bit pricy though

I agree! The Outlaw Josey Wales is Clint Eastwood's best flick (and my personal favorite movie overall)! For what it's worth, Clint Eastwood feels the same way! Only 17 more days until this masterpiece is released on BluRay Disc! I can't wait!

I decided to go ahead and order from Amazon. $24.99 isn't great, but it does come in a nice digibook and sounds like it's a great transfer. New extras as well.

Default Where's this sites review?

Granted, I take reviews with a grain of salt, considering everybody has their own tastes and criteria. Nevertheless, it's getting awfully close and nothing here yet. I took a look at the DVD Beaver review, but it's always nice to see another take on it. So whoever is doing the review from this site, I have some words for you........

GET 'ER DONE!

Default How quick till the price drop you think?

Does anyone else think this will get a bargain bin price drop within a month of release just like Once Upon a time in the West got recently? If it does I'm gonna wait even though its probably my most favorite Eastwood westerns next to Unforgiven.

Unless they (WB) do a non digibook release your not going to see this drop for a long time.

I can't wait to get this from Amazon tomorrow. Been excited ever since I heard it was coming to blu and the review is good so that's even better.

Yeah, Warner usually waits a year to re-release a digibook release in standard plastic case, and digibooks rarely fall much below $20. I thought I'd have my copy in my hot little hands today, but FedEx marked it "Package not due for delivery" and I won't get it until tomorrow.

Got mine for $19.18 in Borders.com 50% off sale.

Grrrrr I hate digibooks. Not usually too neurotic about packaging but I have digibooks. The few I couldn't avoid don't fit right with my other cases and I don't care about the digibook format whatsoever and I hate paying for the packaging that does absolutely nothing for me.

Stoked about the review and now I am more bummed because I want this but don't want the digibook.

*crosses fingers for Walmart exclusive non digibook*
