I literally just finished reading a quote from Doug saying he has no idea if he'll be in this movie, he wants to be but hasn't been asked yet. It was over at Bloody-Disgusting and he was talking about GDT's Frankenstein project.

That would be awesome if Jones was part of this as well. I really hope he is. He's truly a gifted entertainer, and him as Pan and Abe are some of my favorite characters ever on screen. He's just really, really awesome when he works with Del Toro. He was actually the saving grace of Rise of the Silver Surfer for me....I hated that they didn't use his voice though. I really want to see Del Toro's Frankenstein movie as well...

Here's that article I mentioned earlier, I highlighted his quote about this movie. I didn't realize just how many projects he has in the pipe line, that is just nuts!

Doug Jones On Guillermo Del Toro's 'Frankenstein': "He's Not Gonna Rush It"
Quote:
Ever since it was first announced a couple of years ago, fans of genre legend Guillermo del Toro have been eagerly anticipating his adaptation of Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein", although not much in the way of actual news has been reported since.

Nevertheless, at the Saturn Awards last night I ran into the Monster himself, frequent del Toro collaborator Doug Jones, who I tried to milk for any new information on the project that will be produced by Universal Pictures. Key word: tried.

"You know, it's officially in development, and I'm using air quotes," said the statuesque Jones, towering over me by what seemed like ten feet. "The script's not finished yet, but it's a Guillermo del Toro lifelong dream project to make. He's been wanting to do this since he was a kid. So he's not gonna rush it, and he's also got like a lot of things on his plate before that. He's got enough projects to last him through his own death right now, so I don't know where he's gonna work any of this in. But he said he's still [wanting] me to play his Monster, so that makes me attached. So I'm glad to hear that."

So will we be seeing him in del Toro's next project, the currently-in-pre-production sci-fi extravaganza Pacific Rim?

"That film that he's been prepping for the fall I think," he told me. "And I don't know if I'm involved or not in that, I haven't heard anything. I would hope so, but I have no idea."

In addition to Pacific Rim, Del Toro has his name attached to 3993, Coffin, Deadman, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Drood, The Haunted Mansion, Trollhunters and Witches, not to mention he's producing a slew of projects including Pinocchio.

Thanks for the article, sir. I really, really hope he is a part of it. A Del Toro movie without Jones would just be sad.

For further example, see Cronos.

On a somewhat related know, I did not know that Doug Jones was Gay Robot, wow, I often wondered who was under that ridiculous costume on Nick's show but never would have guessed it was Doug.

Guillermo del Toro Talks PACIFIC RIM, Calls it the “Biggest Giant Monster Movie Ever Made”

Earlier today, Steve got the chance to sit down with director Guillermo del Toro to talk about the upcoming horror film he produced, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark. While we’ll have that full interview up for you at a later date, del Toro spoke a bit about his next directorial project Pacific Rim, and we wanted to get that up for you right away. Del Toro revealed that they’re announcing a release date either today or tomorrow, and the film starts shooting this November. Hit the jump to read his full quote regarding Pacific Rim.

Collider: How are things going on a certain big movie of yours?

Quote:
Guillermo del Toro: Fantastic. I mean so far, knock on wood, it’s the greatest experience of my life. I’m having a blast, designing like crazy. I’m now hiring actors, which is always a good sign, always a great sign when you’re casting. We’re announcing a release date today or tomorrow, which makes it real also. The other thing that we’re heading towards is an impeding start date the first week in November, so we have 20 weeks to start shooting the biggest giant monster movie ever made.
For those of you unaware, the film is set on an alternate version of Earth in the near future. The story basically centers on humans piloting giant robots in order to battle aliens that are invading through a wormhole-like structure. Charlie Hunnam is set in the lead role, with Idris Elba and possibly Charlie Day starring alongside. Be sure to check back here soon to find out when Pacific Rim will hit theaters.

IMDb says it's 2013, but even without this, 2012 is gonna be huge.

Don't know why I thought 2012 for this movie. Most of my movies come out in 2012 so that must have been on my brain. Well gives me something to look forward to in 2013 then as I can't think of that many movies besides a select few.

Warner Bros. Will Release Guillermo del Toro’s PACIFIC RIM on July 12th, 2013

Warner Bros. has announced some release date news for Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim and Steven Soderbergh’s Contagion. The studio will roll out del Toro’s “biggest giant monster movie ever made” on July 12th, 2013. While it’s more than two years in the future, the pic is currently the sole occupant of that date meaning that other studios now get to work around Pacific Rim when considering their own 2013 release slate. For those new to the program, Pacific Rim stars Charlie Hunnam and Idris Elba and is set in a near future where humans fight aliens via piloting giant robots.

Guillermo del Toro Talks Pacific Rim

Quote:
He was at Comic-Con today to promote Don't Be Afraid of the Dark (opening August 26), yet Shock Till You Drop was able to pry a bit more info from Guillermo del Toro about his next project: Pacific Rim.

When he's done with his business in San Diego, Del Toro returns to Toronto to finish prep on the film which involves, he tells us, "Giant robots verses giant monsters. I cannot say more about the monsters. Some of the synopsis that is out there is not exactly accurate. There is going to be a gigantic spectacle of action, science fiction and horror."

Del Toro says that the title refers to where the movie - moreover, the action - takes place: Los Angeles, Tokyo, Alaska, Australia and New Zealand.

"It was a great escape from At the Mountains of Madness being canceled," he said. "About 72 hours after Mountains was cancelled I was on board for Pacific Rim."

More to come on the film as Del Toro and some of his cast - which includes Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Charlie Day and Rinko Kikuchi - take the stage at Comic-Con during the Legendary panel tomorrow.
Sounds awesome and can't wait

Very cool. I am wondering what the horror aspect will be.
I hope a video of that panel gets posted. I am interested in hearing more. I am also interested in seeing what Charlie Day has to say.

I just cannot believe we are going to see Jax Teller, Stringer Bell and Charlie Kelly in a robots vs monsters movie from GDT. That is just insane!

'Pacific Rim will have finest monsters ever'

Quote:
Guillermo del Toro has promised fans that his new monster movie Pacific Rim will feature some of the greatest special effects ever seen.

The Hellboy director is helming the project for Legendary Pictures, and provided several details about the film at Comic-Con International this weekend.

"It is my duty to commit to film the finest f**king monsters ever committed to film," del Toro promised, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "And secondly, I pledge to create the greatest f**king robots ever committed to film."

Del Toro also seemingly referenced Universal's refusal to commit $150m to his proposed H.P. Lovecraft adaptation At The Mountain's of Madness, which led the director to leave the project back in March.

"It's a miracle finding a company that has the energy, the ambition, the balls to make movies the way we want to make them," he explained.

Despite his enthusiasm for Pacific Rim, del Toro refused to divulge any real plot details, but did tease that the film would "answer everything curious minds might ask about monsters".

Several actors have already joined the cast, including Bad Teachers star Charlie Day, Sons of Anarchy regular Charlie Hunman and Thor star Idris Elba.

Pacific Rim is due to begin filming this September for an expected release on July 12, 2013.
Sounds awesome and eagerly anticipating this. Good to see he doesn't care about what he says and calls Universal out on not having balls to make At the Mountains of Madness.
