Setlist is better for R30. I saw them that tour also, the first show of the tour was less than 10 miles from my house! There were people from all over the world at that show - Canada, Scotland, England! They are coming to town in two weeks - Time Machine!!!!

Once I hear something like Stop Making Sense (studio track), This Is It or The Police Certifiable (to mention just a few), I want them all to have that type of presence/quality/low end power. Rush Snakes and Arrows in particular is the exact opposite of this...........WAY too much ambience not nearly enough direct. The low end is anemic (with an eq'd sub at least)............not personally what I look for in a live recording, but some like this sound which is fine obviously........these concerts are more subjective than anything I find as far as opinion goes.
I'm the exact opposite. I HATE Stop Making Sense (although I love the album) - it's too perfect, sounds like a studio release (even the non-studio track). Music doesn't match the video, almost like it's lip synched. ultimately I prefer my LD release over the Blu release - whereas R30 makes me feel like I'm at the concert again. Which in my opinion is what a concert movie should do.

On the BD it says that they play right before Joe Cocker but I don't know if there is footage they might just be playing during crowd shots. I will have to re-watch it and get back to you

Thats cool Like I said, these music discs are VERY subjective. I cant stand when they "try" to recreate actually being at a show with crappy acoustics, overblown ambience, etc.....at the same time, some people (like you) look for this type of experience from their music discs which I can totally understand as well. Personally, I wish all my discs were recorded and mixed like SMS since I want to experience the music in its purest form when I am sitting in my nice calibrated HT and have no interest in trying to recreate being at the show. If I want a show atmosphere/sound, I would prefer to actually go to one.

The Song Remains the Same is unfortunatly Zep at their worst. I wish there were cameras for when they recorded "How The West Was Won", which is the Zep sound I saw and heard in Tampa in '73! I good thing about the rerelease of TSRTS is they have the Tampa news program from the night I saw them (I keep looking for myself!) and they put "Celebration Day" in the extras which was the 2nd song in the set list after "Rock N Roll".

I STRONGLY disagree with that..........Led Zep at their worst? I would not call it Zep at their best (not far off though either), but its FAR from their "worst". Some of the Zep bootlegs I have from the late 70s are truly sloppy in comparison to TSRTS. Bottom line though is TSRTS is FAR from Led Zep at their worst from what I have listened to of their live material. In fact, from what I have listened to, I would say the mid 70s in general are when Zep was at their best overall (which includes TSRTS). Have you listened to much of the later 70s shows?

Wasn't their best being at the end of the 1973 U.S. Tour. Plant was tired, somewhat hoarse, Page was frayed. The rhytmn section of Jones and Bonham though as always solid. Page at the time said it was what was "available" given it was an off the cuff decision to film the last shows. Their then manager the late Peter Grant even called it the "most expensive home movie ever made..."

I would love to see the remaining members put out the chronological "DVD" on Blu Ray...with additional footage maybe from the 1977 U.S. Tour. Currently, there are rumblings in the Zeppelin camp about a BD spring release of the 02 Reunion show. I would gather that would really rock.

On topic:

Led-Zeppelin "The Song Remains The Same"
Queen "Rock Montreal"
The Rolling Stones "Ladies And Gentlemen"
The Rolling Stones "Gimme Shelter"
Various Artists "The Complete Monterey Pop Festival"
The Police "Certifiable"
Various Artists "Woodstock"
Various Artists "Concert For George" [I have the DVD but the Blu is in transit...]
The Rolling Stones "Live At The Max"
Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood "Live At Madison Square Garden"

I’m watching NIN:Beside You in Time and have to change my top three. The pq and a/q are too awesome not to have this there.
