Nothing wrong with building clout and a successful resume. Or is it the selling out aspect that isn't appealing?

Can't wait to hear who the villain will be. Lizard was kinda weak but I guess they did about the best job they could with Lizard story-wise. Concept and creature-effect wise I thought Lizard what pretty weak . Would love to see Carnage finally or maybe Venom done right. They will probably do Green Goblin though.

It's awesome that Marc Webb is coming back, he did an amazing job. I feel like the only missteps were done by executives stepping in last minute and screwing with things, so I hope that doesn't happen this time.

Andrew Garfield was the main reason I liked the first one, his performance was awesome. If he wasn't returning it would have been an automatic fail.

I never understand why someone comes into a thread about films they dont like to post negative shit? U wake yourself up because TASM2 is an interesting film and depending on where he goes with it could also be original. Got Em!!

No, I don't mind him doing this to build clout. It's just after 500 Days I was expecting him to do really interesting and different projects. Spider-man certainly wasent that for me. Anybody can do Spider-man, but how many people can do a 500 Days? And now by taking the sequel he is putting even more commitment projects on his plate it's going to be a long while before he gets the chance to make something from the ground up. Just disappointing as a Webb fan.

How can somebody like something they haven't seen? Or how do you know its even interesting? Maybie I will like it, who knows? I'm just disappointed Webb stuck around. But yet again you have failed to understand the concept behind my post and made a knee jerk response. Do I even make mention of Spider-Man 2? Nope. Just Webb's commitment projects.

How many times have you followed me into a thread to do that to me just this week? By my count this makes it 3.

But keep following me around riding on my coat tails to make absurd comments. It feels like I have a fan club.

DIG EM!!!

Glad to see Webb is returning. Really hoping the executives give him more creative control next time around and don't mess with the movie like they did the firs one. I love 'The Amazing Spider-Man', but studio interference really held it back from being even more different from the original trilogy than it could have been.

Agreed. I hope it is like Burton's Batman movies. Burton had so much creative freedom on Batman Returns (which I love). While I really like Batman '89, you can kind of tell where the studios had their input thrust into the film. I know some don't like those movies, but the analogy should still work.

I also hope they either use a villain that will have much more practical FX over CGI or they throw a bit more money toward the VFX. The lizard just didn't look as good as some of the contemporary work (Hulk in The Avengers for one). I also want 3D again; Spider-Man is the perfect type of film for it.

I agree...hopefully they stay back a bit and let Webb do what he wants. I would love to see Mysterio. And I'm sure this will have 3D again. I really enjoyed the swinging in 3D and the first person shots were beautifully done.

Dude u are spec to me. However since I discuss films on this board I will acknowledge things that need to be acknowledged. So u saying "wake me up when he deals with original and interesting projects" isnt taking a shot at Spider-Man 2? Cmon man all I am saying is pretty much everyone had a positive response then here u go with your usual negativity if its sumthin u arent feeling. What u may be feeling doesnt make it good or great. It just means u like it and thats it. U come off as your opinion is a fact or thats how I read your replys. Got Em!!

I'm very pleased he's returning. They were clearly setting up a longer arc in Amazing Spider-Man and, if you're going to do that, then the follow-ups should have the same creative talent involved to ensure the arc gets doen properly. Otherwise it's just a choose your own adventure where different people come in, take whatever happened inthe last one, and decide themselves what should happen next. It isn't an organic way to create a long-form narrative.

I'm worried that brining new writers in might affect this but, as they're working from the original draft from the first film's writer, hopefully the mythology is all set and they're just sprucing it up.

I am so glad that Mark Webb is returning to direct the Amazing Spider-Man 2. He is did an awesome job on the first film and I can't wait to see what he is able to accomplish with the sequel!

Woodley is the studio's leading choice to join stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone in the Marc Webb-directed sequel, which is preparing to start casting. Character breakdowns have gone out to talent agencies and Electro is rumored to be one of the villains the filmmakers are considering for the next installment of the hit comicbook franchise.

I wouldn't mind him as the villain, or her as MJ.
