No it's not. Not even close. The photography in Halloween 6 is straight up horrendous. At least Resurrection has competent photography.

I love H3. It is actually one of my favorites (I cant put it in any type of order with the other Halloweens because it is very much its own movie but I have always loved it.

I may buy it if it's not barebones.
What did you think of the producers cut?

Well the reason for not releasing the Producers cut has been all over the place. I think right now Disney owns it. I talked to Daniel Farrands who originally wrote the film's script and he has been pushing to get the movie released. I think from what I remember he was telling me that AnchorBay was trying to get it off of Disney because Disney has not interest in releasing it.

Well yes and no. There are various versions of the Producers cut that are out on bootleg dvd. Some have the timecodes and others do not. There are so many different quality copies of the film. I have purchased/seen several different ones and a lot of them are very poor quality. There is actually 1 where the someone used the official DVD for scenes that were in both films, and that version of the producers cut goes from good quality DVD scene to the producers cut. Most of the quality is pretty crappy but there is one that I have that is the best I have seen thus far and will probably remain to be the best one until there is an official DVD release

The Producer's Cut release would need to have work done to get it to acceptable quality and these are mostly old titles using older masters.

I can now sell my 3-movie set from Canada... and take that awful Resurrection BACK out of my film-library and banish it to the pit of hell where it belongs. Truly a wretched film that just dumps on the entire franchise, especially H20 and the character of Laurie Strode.

Anchor Bay did announce in the last 2 years they were "working on" 4 and 5 -- so I would hope this Sept/Oct sees the release of those but I fear it might be another year without the amazing Danielle Harris' debut films.

4 has always been a fave of mine. Really got the "halloween in small-town" vibe of the first film and though it pretty much plays beat-for-beat I felt it nailed the atmosphere and had very likable leads in Ellie Cornell and Harris. The score is also effective and the film has some great sequences (the roof-top chase and finale especially).

5. Is mostly horrible but is at least "watchable" in parts. The chase scene with the laundry chute is effectively terrifying but the whole thing just feels cheap. It's definitely a weak entry.

Never understood the love of Part 2... I think it's because it retains so much of the production staff of the first film and the same actors/characters but for me it's like a film-making course in how NOT to make a good film with almost all the same elements. Comments that you can just cut it together with P1 and make a 3 hour epic are ludicrous. It's horribly paced and while the cinematography is similar and the "look" of the film matches it's miles away from the first film in execution and style (much more of an "80's" slasher feel to the narrative than the original which plays a lot more like a 60s or 70s "classy" thriller). It's not unwatchable but it's hardly the masterpiece the original film is. I think it gets a free pass because Carpenter and Curtis returned but it doesn't save the film from being mostly an incompetent mess. A Rick Rosenthal re-edit "director's cut" could clean it up I suppose but there's just not much of a story there. Still would love a BD release though. Any Halloween film makes for a good night of movie watching as far as I'm concerned. Maybe it's the masks or the music... but something about the franchise is just fun for me -- even with the worst films --(Okay, except Resurrection which doesn't exist).

At best Halloween: Resurrection looks like a Syfy Original. The horrible look of the film is way down on the list to it's horrendous script, marketing inspired casting, and lazy direction. Despite it's chopped up script Curse looks great. It actually looks like a theatrical release unlike Resurrection.

Resurrection is terrible but it's not as bad as Part 6.

By the time Resurrection came around the franchise had already destroyed itself. But Part 6 was where the franchise destroyed itself, going from a normal serial killer slasher type to (as hinted at with the man in black in part 5) this whole occult randomness they decided to throw in.

Plus I like both Busta Rhymes as well as LOVE Tyra Banks (who most people seem to not be able to stand) so for me Resurrection wasn't all bad.

But I will say that ain't no way Busta Rhymes could realistically (in the movie world) have taken on Michael Myers and won, nope, impossible.

Again, Curse has the worst photography of any Halloween movie I've seen (aside from Zombie's of course). Maybe the sets were ok, but whoever was using the camera shoud've been slapped in the face. At least the death scenes in Ressurecion were shot like classic Italian set pieces. Rick Rosenthal knew what he was doing. The Myers house didn't look bad either. He just had a really shitty script. The script in H6 is just as bad though, but is slightly less anoying due to the lack of Reality tv and docu-horrror elements. Still Ressurrection gets the edge for the reasons already mentioned.

I disagree. I think 6 is extremely atmospheric, and has that Halloween vibe which is lacking from some of the other movies.

I think the original H2 is almost as good as the original. I thought it was extremely atmospheric, and gave off a feeling of being isolated and alone with a psychopath on the loose.

If I had to choose one favorite film in the franchise, I would be hard-pressed to choose between the H1 and H2.

I agree - I've always found H6 to have a pretty unique and spooky atmosphere that really sets it apart from the other films.

While I think that the next one, H20, was overall a better movie, the "look" of that film is totally trumped by the cinematography efforts in H6.

Wait a sec...you actually LIKED Busta Rhymes and Tyra Banks? Wow...just wow. I understand that taste is subjective, but not for Halloween: Resurrection. There is NOTHING remotely good about that movie. Not the $5 production value and not the terrible cast.
