Leo for sure. I have seen most of his movies, but didn't really care for him too much until Blood Diamond. Even then, I thought he was still a bit mediocre. But, with Body of Lies, Shutter Island, and Inception, he has really garnered my respect.
Another actor that comes to mind is, Ben Foster. First thing I saw him in was Hostage. Like the movie alot, but hated him in it. But, with 3:10 to Yuma, Pandorum, and even his smaller role in 30 Days of Night, he has been an actor I have come to admire. |

Ben Affleck, i loved him in Chasing Amy and he was good in Good Will Hunting
but then i started to hate him more than any actor so much around the time of Daredevil, Jersey Girl and Gigili. and now years later i think hes the greatest because he directed Gone Baby Gone and after directed and stared in The Town, 2 great movies !!! what a crazy up and down career this guy has had haha |

I used to dislike Julia Roberts - until I was utterly floored by her turn in Erin Brockovich and then again in Closer.
Hilary Swank - I always thought she was not a particularly convincing actress, despite her undeniably potent work in Boys Don't Cry... Until she swept me off my feet with her heartbreaking performance in The Homesman. The same goes to Denzel Washington. I used to find him overrated, until the last few years when I watched Safe House (a magnificent star turn) and Fences. |

Very stubbornly avoided Kevin Costner and Richard Gere films due to their reputations in chick flicks but then I saw Primal Fear and loved Richard Gere's performance and then saw 3000 Miles to Graceland where Kevin Costner blew me away playing one of the best and most vicious villains in film history then gradually explored their catalogs and very quickly became a big fan of both actors. Gere also blew me away as another one of the best and most vicious villains in film history with the great Mike Figgis thriller Internal Affairs.
Ben Affleck is another one but I'm not as big of a fan of his as Costner and Gere. |
