I liked the original design for Dante's Peak for the DVD release. But, I'll still be picking it up. DVD art doesn't factor into my purchase. This is a really fun popcorn movie to watch.

One of Brosnan's better non Bond films.

for all you hating on the artwork, would you really rather have the DVD artwork, where Brosnan and Hamilton's heads are floating in volcanic smoke? I mean, really!

I guess the floating heads wasn't the best, but I can't believe they shut Linda Hamilton out of the cover art! That was COLD.

Dante's Peak Blu-ray

Just lettign everyone know it's scheduled to be released. This is my favorite volcano movie, even better than the other one with Tommy Lee Jones, but that's just my opinion. Sure, it's predictable and corney, but it was still fun.

picked up my copy at Best Buy along with Animal House and The Blues Brothers. Nice to have them all available at one store for a change.

Vibrant, punchy colors, with nice detailing (I don't see any overt DNR, but I just spot-checked a couple of scenes)...the only major drawback (surprise, surprise) is some egregious application of edge enhancement. There's a parade early in the film; look at the dark pants of the marchers in the marching band--each one features blatant haloing. Still, this BD absolutely murders the old DVD. Not all of the bonus features (e.g. the shooting script, etc.) made the move to the BD so completists will need to hold on to their DVDs, too, when they buy this one...
