It isn't necessary, however, to dial the DNR knob to 11. It seems like most — if not all — of the studios know this now, and even when Universal uses mild DNR lately, it never seems to be intrusive or take away from the experience. Luckily, they are slowly fixing many of these titles, but think of the money they could've saved if they had just done it correctly in the first place.

I've never understood why Criterion did that? considering Warner Bros. 65mm transfers have for the most part looked stellar, Playtime's PQ doesn't hold a candle to those bluray releases. I've even seen 'Playtime' in 70mm and the bluray does not replicate that memorable visual experience.
