For the past four+ seasons, I've been watching this series and it wasn't until the latest episode aired that it has generated so much discussion about Julianna Margulies and her performance as Alicia Florick in "Hitting The Fan" (Season 5 Episode 5) that there is talk about nominating her for her powerful performance.
Over the past four years, her character on the series has evolved to the point where she has become as ruthless as the other defense attornies at Lockhart/Gardner and it rears its ugly face near the end of the episode. It was also nice to see her on again/off again on screen husband, Peter Florick as Governor-elect, flexing his power, creating problems for Lockhart/Garnder, for daring to go after his wife in the process, costing L/G a $35 million dollar per year client. The episode itself deserves some special recommendations. The most entertaining hour of television, EVER. I have to say that the episode had me on the edge of my seat and if there ever was a time to start watching this series, it's now. The next few upcoming episodes showcase the fallout over her defection from Lockhart/Gardner and it looks like war not only has broken out but that it has unleashed a new ferocity among the attorneys at Lockhart/Garnder and Alicia Florick's new firm, Florick/Agos. Funny thing is, the caption for the fifth season has been dubbed "Civil War". ![]() Last edited by kemcha; 10-30-2013 at 02:30 AM. |

Last nights episode was just great. Wonderful perfomances from everyone. I'm not sure why this show has low ratings because it's consistanly very good every season.

I thought it was good but it seems the movie industry can't stop going for "shock value" in order to get more viewers and it's a cheap tactic. With the exception of a few episodes, this current season has been lackluster. Even the episode from the previous week was crap. Michael J Fox is back for a 4-episode run and the next episode is supposed to deal with the aftermath.

![]() [Show spoiler] I've seen quite a few people complain about other shows killing characters off when it was the actors that wanted off the show. Grey's Anatomy is the biggest one, the two actors wanted out and while there were multiple characters in a life threatening situation, those two were killed off. They could have survived, that would mean they'd have to find another way to write them off but that wouldn't make sense to do since they wanted to be finished as soon as possible. Then again, I disagree with you about this season being "lackluster." It's just as good as previous seasons, it's just a different angle with the new law firm. The reason I said that was that back when the King's were first interviewed, they said that every fifth episode would be an event episode. It seemed like between Episode 6 and Episode 14, that the writers seemed to lapse back into their comfortable spots ...
But, it does seem like like the rest of this season is going to be all about dealing with the aftermath of Will Gardner's death as well as the election fraud issue. But, the series has been renewed for a sixth season so they have a lot to expand on. |

Am I really the first one to refer to "The Good Wife"? I realize that this is rather a "chick" series, but are there no gay geeks here?! I love this show!
And please, issue no spoilers. I am German, and I can't abide dubbed versions, so I admit to having ... well, that was in the past. At this point I'm entirely legitimate, and the best that I can get on German Maxdome is episode 6.06. More on point, the show's ending triggered some very favorable editorials. Not one of the seasons have been issued on Blu-Ray yet. What do you think is the reason? Comparably, "The Good Wife" is a contemporary show, so Blu-Ray should be an adequate physical medium. I suspect some business (i.e. unfathomable) strategy. What is your guess? Last edited by Ebab; 05-10-2016 at 04:56 PM. |

But coming back to the subject of physical media, I'm really puzzled that not one of the seasons have ever been issued on Blu-Ray. The time, I think, would have been obvious to do this; so now that it hadn't happen, there must have been a very conscious business decision or obstacle to inhibit the release, don't you think? |

On a more technical note: "blu-ray.com" does have entries for yet unreleased Blu-Ray titles, say: "The Abyss". If I were to suggest "The Good Wife" to get such an entry at "Blu-ray.com", what should I do (I tried the help files and FAQs, but failed to find the answer)?
