I will most definitely be getting these, as long as the transfers are good. I'll wait for a review of it when it comes out.

I expect them to give this good treatment, here's hoping universal does a great transfer. (they still own the rights or am I wrong?)

I wonder if it will have the Arnold commentary track that was on the DVD. I remember there being some controversy back then because of how much he got paid to record it. I think I will hold on to my DVD until the special features are announced.

The Universal DVD was mono sound as per the original film. In Europe Fox released the DVD with a remixed 5.1 soundtrack with the music in true stereo. I wonder which soundtrack Universal will use?

As long as it's not a flip disc I'm happy about this news as these movies are 80s gold!

Why all the hate for The Destroyer? It is pure 80's cheese and the girl from The Wonder Years is in it! One of my first celebrity crushes lol.

+1

Even though The Barbarian is a better movie, I really enjoy The Destroyer as well. Just as I enjoy Red Sonja. Arnold cheese at it's best!!

i will by this bd regardless of AQ and VQ unless is as bad as H20, because I doubt there will be an improved release in the future, just look at Total Recall.

I'm a little worried that this means extended cut ONLY, not extended cut ALSO...
I'm with Doctorossi. I didn't hate the extended DVD edition but I much prefer the theatrical cut, especially the ending, and with the technology available to Blu-ray it would really be an insult not to release both versions on the same disc. Heck, Spielberg Released THREE versions of Close Encounters on the same disc (you gotta love that guy). So let's hope they don't pull a "Lucas" on this one and release both versions with seamless branching.

Don't forget about The Villian! Anyone remember that one? I don't think it's even been out on dvd yet.

Same here. I'm probably going to throw my special edition dvd in with this blu-ray anyway for a makeshift combo pack, but it would be nice if the commentary made the jump too.

Does anyone else get the impression that this is ONLY going to include a new extended cut of the movie, which seems to be 6 minutes longer than the extended cut on the last DVD? It makes even more sense if you consider that the reason they aren't including the commentary is because the runtime is longer now and the commentary won't match up.

Suddenly I'm less excited about one of my favorite movies of all time coming to Blu-Ray. May have to look into a Euro release from Fox as long as they have an uncensored one.

They could still include the commentary and have it go silent for the newly added scenes. I would prefer that over not including it at all...

Good point! It would be a shame to lose the whole commentary just because a few scenes were added. Wouldn't it be possible to edit the commentary during the added scenes so it would still sync up. Granted a tad odd there would be several silent gaps, but no big deal.
In any event $19, that's too good to pass up! Seems like Universal is finally getting their A$$ in gear and putting out some decent catalog titles!
