You are 100% correct as to the director's intention! Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to debate that...I just think they could've done it differently.
I just believe, as a society, can forgive almost anything except two things:
1) harm/abuse toward children
2) harm/abuse toward animals

There is no doubt, that scene was a total shocker! I'm just surprised the MPAA let them get away with it. I just think you have to draw the line somewhere, and if the MPAA allows that scene, then the next movie will try to top it...so on/so forth. All the while these scenes will get more & more "over the line"...again this is all IMO. I'm not trying to bash the movie, because minus that 1 scene, I thought it was pretty good!

Just finished rewatching this on blu. I love it more each time.

Is anyone else reminded of The Walking Dead when they see this? I feel like they're very similar in tone.

Just finished watching Mickle's Stake Land - excellent post-apocalyptic/horror flick; very fully-realized desolate landscapes, small communities with survivors, etc. The vampire effects were amazing, as was the story.

And, yes, this does remind me quite a bit of TWD...

Just watched this for the first time tonight and this was pretty darn good. I liked the setting and thought the performances were solid. Only thing I didn't like was
[Show spoiler]the ending. That was a little bit of a letdown, but doesn't take away from the rest of the movie.

Anybody else catch the premiere of Stake Land 2 tonight on Syfy? I didn't think it was too bad. It wasn't as good as the original by any means, but it did have it's moments. I'm guessing there will be a bluray release at some point.

Wow, more that just a little bit of a necro-post. Where's all the love for post-apocalyptic dystopian infected/vampire flicks around here? With all the sub-par, bland, kid-centric cable tv series like Last of Us and such flooding media, and Daybreakers seeing a slightly retooled uhd release, I figured I'd check in to see if there were any rumblings of 4k uhd for something with more nihilistic meat on its bones, like Stake Land, and surprisingly, it's a flippin' graveyard.

I know nothing about MPI Media, but I wonder if Stake Land has any kind of a shot at getting a license deal with a respectable boutique for a uhd release. Might as well drag this festering vamp-corpse back out into the light of 2025.
