I've had quite a few steels from Amazon.ca in the last few weeks: Heat, The Shawshank Redemption and The Departed, and each time they came in a well padded box (I may still have one around - if I find it, I will post a pic). Each one in perfect condition - no complaints here. I guess it's just the luck of the draw when you order overeseas.

I recently got The Departed SteelBook from Amazon.ca, it was in a small box with 4 other BDs (Amaray cases) and those little air bags. In perfect condition.

I got 2 Amaray titles delivered yesterday and they came in a very thick cardboard mailer. They weren't even expensive ones either as the total order including P&P was just under £15.

It bodes well for future orders from amazon.ca if they've changed their packaging.

They also were delivered in 3 days even though I picked the cheapest postage option.

How much did the postage cost you even for the cheapest option? Per item or flat rate?

Orders from Amazon.ca (& Amazon.com) are a set fee + a fee per item.

In this case using standard postage it was a set fee of $4.49 + 2 times the fee per item of $2.49, total $9.47 (about £6)

That's not too bad i guess. What i hate though is how the tossers give you the lowest possible exchange rates most times. Paypal does it all the time

Thumbs up

I can confirm, my matrix steel book order went well. the packaging was the golden envelope w/ air bubbles inside. yeah not the best packagiing, but the steel book was perfectly in shape when i unveiled it.

amazon.ca was using boxes. but its seems like after they changed from using canada post to ups for the local shipments they stoped using the boxes and switch to bubble mailers. my guess is amazon canada gets there packaging from the same places amazon usa does and senes amazon usa rarely if ever has steelbooks they have no need for the customized steelbook boxes suchs as amazon uk and germany got.

mabey if everyone getting damaged ones left packaging feedback wiht 1 star and incuded picutres and notes about the boxes that amazon uk/germany got mabey amazon canada would get them to. well that is if the accualy read the packaging feedback.

usa depends. if u pick the slow shipping ie dhl golbal mail it alway seemed to be boxed if u pick the fast shipping option witch goes out ups epxress saver. it can be a toss up between bubble mailer or box. canada seems to mostly be going the bubble mailer route though use to be boxes for pretty much everything.

bubble mailers are ok for nomal cases most of the time. but they don't cut it for steels. my only thinking would be is if enough people complainted about getting dinted steels and if all the them showed amazon canada what amazon uk and germany are using mabey they could get some of the same boxes being used by them.

at least with amazon they if it does come damaged they will pay for the return shipping and usal for people in other countries they just say don't bother sending it back if u asking the via email rather tnen just set up the return. becuase being that they pay u back the shipping mostly its gonna end up costing them more for u to send them.

Which is the reason I stopped ordering from them. Amazon.ca and Amazon.co.jp are the worst when it comes to shipping Steelbooks.

this is one of the reasons why I don't buy steelbooks at all - it is much cheaper to print a new cover and buy a bluray case than to replace a steelbook. but in terms of shipping, I have never had anything arrived damaged from amazon.ca and I have bought some rather large items from them. they just don't see it as a collector's item and pack it like a regular movie.

its prob just international orders, they hate sending them haha.

but customer service is top notch, they are sending replacements at no extra cost and I can keep the damaged ones, so hopefully the replacements arrive mint

Why are you in the steelbooks thread then?

All it takes is one steel. Then another. Then its addiction!

I've had 3 ordered separately and all 3 came in that cardboard wrap around that is really sturdy. All mint.
