TWC only made this film so they could maintain the rights to make the remake.
We are lucky it's getting released to the public.

Might have been more lucky if they didn't. Doug Bradley not coming back disappoints me. Considering the budget they probably couldn't afford him. I've actually met Doug and talked to him at the Horrorfind convention in Baltimore. He is so cool, but, he can put people off. I watched him do it first hand. I talked to him for 20 mins. when I met him. I took my dvd copy of "Killer Tongue" bowed on one knee and put it in front of him and said," this is how much of a fan I am Sir Bradley", He laughed his @ss off and signed it and My Hellraiser tin and my copy of Inferno. He said," Are you gonna follow me through these shitty Hellraiser sequels?" I held up "Killer Tongue" again. He gave me the rundown on the, then coming soon, Hellseeker sequel and talked about how much he loved playing Pinhead. He was ready for a series of non stop sequels as long as they were willing to make them. At the end, I shook his hand and told him, "I'll never forget this." He said, "Me either, I met the one person in the world who owns "Killer Tongue!" Such a cool, cool guy. The only one cooler is Bruce Campbell. Third coolest would be Tom Savini, I talked to Him for an hour and 15 mins. Anyone who's a horror fan needs to go to one of these conventions. It's like Christmas!

We would have been the luckiest had the film not been made, but to have a film made and the canned forever is terrible, much more terrible than the film could ever be.
I was only a second grader when the whole Roger Corman's Fantastic Four came and went. Scarred my little mind, twisted me- made me... rage.
Imagine hearing the FF movie is going to premier locally at the Mall of America and the whoops- guess not. New Constantine films bought the film and it's never coming out.

The only crime worse than making a Hellraiser without Doug Bradley is not releasing it. Film must be seen. Yes even a Seltzer/ Friedberg film, no shit-canning.

To clarify one point, as I've been reading up on this film and it's production, the budget is not $300,000. It's budget is actually $700,000. The reviewer stated that the budget was $300,000 less than the original Hellraiser film which was $1,000,000. Apparently, the internet has run wild with a budget and not checking the facts behind it. While, that's not that much it is closer to the budget mark of the past 2 sequels. Still, one wonders.....

If they want to take the series to other places and other centobites I'm fine with that.
Hell, Clive Barker planned on the 2nd one being the final Pinhead film, and was going on with Julia as the main villain for the next one. He did kill them off for a reason.

and then the world got pinhead crazy. well they got pinhead crazy because of doug bradley. and I'll never give a single penny to any one else doing that character without his blessing.

I can second that. Met Doug a few years back, and also got my AB Hellraiser tin signed. I asked him about the rumored Clive Barker/John Carpenter collaboration on a Hellraiser/Halloween cross-over film. He told me it wasn't just a rumor, but in the wake of the success of Freddy vs. Jason was being fast-tracked by the Weinsteins, w/ Barker writing, and Carpenter directing. According to Doug, he got a call from Clive, saying that Moustapha Akkad put the ki-bash on the whole thing, claiming that he didn't think Halloween fans would wanna see it (apparently, he doesn't "get" the Hellraiser films). Personally, the idea of a Michael vs. Pinhead movie doesn't look good on paper, but the idea of a Barker/Carpenter collaboration would have been amazing (it probably would have been a train wreck, but anything would be better than what both franchises have been putting out in recent years).

Actually the subplot in #3, where Capt. Spencer's ghost tells Kristy that his evil Pinhead side lived on, was Barker's story notes for a third "real" story.
Unfortunately, that was ALL the Barker that made it into the third movie.

Yes, but he did write 2 before 3 didn't he.

Point was, they didn't realize the success of Pinhead the character until the 2nd one was out in theaters. and so 2 was written to set up Claire as the baddie of the next installment.

It was a test for the remake if I do believe... it was just to test out some new directions they could take the look of Pinhead in but that look was abandoned. Clive stated he wasn't a fan of it since it was too gory and not clean enough.

"Too gory"?

are you kidding me?, I cannot believe that CB would use that as an excuse.

Well I think he liked the cenobites to always be half terrifying and half beautiful. So while they did have horrendous mutilations, they looked surgical by nature, not dirty and sloppy. So I'm going to guess that's what he meant by "too gory". more like too messy I think.

Yes, this is what he meant. He liked the symmetry and cleanliness of the gore. His main complaint was the randomness of the slashes and the replacement of clean and simple needles to rusty nails.

It reminds me of a medieval Pinhead to be honest.
