I can't wait to own this. The show looks absolutely stunning on normal HD broadcasts, and I can only imagine how good it looks in full 1080p.

My favorite new show. Let's hope it comes with an awesome slipcover! If not, I'll still buy it

Default Another Great Show on HBO!

I agree with most that the verdict was still out for me the first 3 to 4 episodes but after that the series really takes off and you understand the warring families and the fantasy world they live in! I can see why HBO renewed this show immeadiately after its debut. Season 2 will be awesome and the actors are some of the finest on TV! Will definitely have to own the Blu Ray!

I'd much rather have Daenerys Targaryen emerge from the ash

If the blu-ray is anything like True Blood, then Game of Thrones should be on year's best lists (for whichever year it's released).

As a fan of the books when they first came out, A Dance With Dragons is easily my most anticipated release of 2011, ahead of blu-rays or movies. Heck, I've been waiting for over a decade to find out what happened to some of my favourite characters. Will probably have to re-read the first four books, I remember being somewhat lost with A Feast of Crows b/c it was 5 years after A Storm of Swords.

I just hope GRRM is alive and well enuff to finish his story. I will not be pleased if I have to go through a repeat of Dune.

I look forward to seeing what you guys think of the early episodes when revisiting the show on BD. As a book fan, I think the show was consistently strong throughout the year, but I realize - for someone new to the story - there's a lot to digest early on. But I think once you've got a handle on all the characters, families, etc. those early episodes have a wealth of great story and character development.

I haven't read much about it, but can someone tell me if this show has an unnecessary amount of gratuitous sex? I also haven't seen for myself, but read that Spartacus does...is GoT as bad as Spartacus? Serious answers please. Thanks.

It is not as bad as Spartacus, but HBO has "sexed up" the show. Most of the episodes have at least one (some might say gratuitous) sex scene, but the sex scenes are often used to deliver exposition that wouldn't be as interesting if it were just characters standing around talking. EW called these these scenes "sexposition".

Stunning opening season. But, I can wait until the series is over to buy the eventual series box set.

But, it's going to be real hard to not impulse buy season one. It's that great.

Don't forget Robert Jordan and Wheels of Time.

Now that would have been an awesome tv series

I think Brandon Sanderson is doing a great job filling in RJ's notes and ending the WoT series next year. I would love to see Peter Jackson take this on!!!

Meh. I lost some interest in the show as it went along, though I stuck with it until the finale. It could be that I felt it had too many characters, but methinks everyone is being set up for future roles they have to play in this growing saga. Maybe it's that there are too many characters I don't yet care about.

You will have to wait seven years at the very least for that to happen, and perhaps even more. The fifth book is due for release next month, while there are two more in the offing - and George R.R. Martin is known for taking his time between releases. Yes, this series is the very definition of epic, good ser.
