Not seen a MGM disc yet that hasn't. I think Fox just like to dumb things down and are lazy.

Great release this. Shame it comes in a really shit plastic case which offers no protection. I swapped it out for a new dual case and added the DVD anyway. I don't normally like new Photoshop artwork but it looks good here.

Is this eventually going to get a wider release, especially outside of the US? I haven't seen it at any walmarts here in Canada.

Great idea about keeping the DVD and adding it to the blu-ray in a new case. Sorry to be a pain but any idea where you can get the duel thin US cases from?

I did a double feature of "Strangers on a Train" and "Throw Momma from the Train" a little while ago with some friends. Dear lord, this film is such a riot. I'm surprised Crystal and DeVito didn't collaborate more because they have such great chemistry together. Sonnenfeld's cinematography is top notch; I love how some scenes are styled like something out of a surrealist or horror film.

Still haven't seen Strangers on a Train, but this was a movie I watched a lot as a kid. Agree with the comment that DeVito and Crystal were so good together on screen and the cinematography style was really memorable for me over the years. Pretty much every scene with Ramsey was great as well and earned her an oscar nomination. The movie has a lot of layers and mixing of genres; it's probably overall one of my favorite comedies. And a slight nitpick would be including the original poster art if it ever gets a re-release. A 35th anniversary special edition would be nice with a new scan and at the very least interviews with DeVito and Crystal. A group commentary would be awesome but unexpected, though both have recorded commentary tracks in the past; obviously not together since they never worked togerther again.

Oddly enough this film reminded me of the Castle Rock films Billy Crystal did, like "When Harry Met Sally" and "City Slickers". Rob Reiner even has a part in this film and Barry Sonnenfeld was the cinematographer. But it's just an Orion film, not Castle Rock affiliated at all, but it just screams Rob Reiner in my opinion. I didn't even know Danny directed the film till I started digging into the bonus features on this disc.

Danny's pretty underappreciated as a director, imo. His run from this movie through Death to Smoochy was arguably all fairly memorable films. He's only really a recognizable guy to most younger fans from It's Sunny, but he's had a great career in front of and behind the camera. Twins could really use a 4k scan and I'd definitely welcome upgrades to this movie.

I agree. Twins' current transfer looks like a soap opera.
