Zavvi is selling this for £14.99. I'd say it's probably worth it!

There are some photos of the box on Ebay. Looks to me like it's three regular Blu-ray cases inside a slipbox.

So are there any reviews out there? Is the Blu-Ray version worth buying? Any Blu-Ray version with the original 4:3 ratio encode? If not, should I stick with the DVD version? If so, where can I buy the DVD set?

There aren't any 4:3 Blu-ray versions of it to my knowledge, and the 4:3 DVD is, generally speaking, now unavailable, unless you're willing to spend £40+ for a used copy or £100+ for a new one. Though those prices do seem to dip every now and again.

But I wouldn't be too worried about the Blu-ray's 16:9 ratio. I've been doing some comparisons, and like someone posted before, it's definitely not just a zoom job. It's actually been completely re-framed and more of the image has been added to the sides compared to the 4:3 version. Sure you're losing some of the image at the top and bottom, but it's hardly anything significant, and no heads are being chopped off. The Blu-ray is probably as good as it's ever going to get. So most likely worth the £15.

I have the old HMV DVD Exclusive set of these, but ordered the blu ray too - is there something I am missing ? Is it worth hanging onto the dvds ?

I don't actually own the DVDs or even the Blu-rays yet, but as far as I know, there aren't any differences in content. But if I were you, I'd hang on to the DVDs for posterity's sake. I wouldn't mind owning both the 4:3 and 16:9 versions myself.

has anyone noticed that there are episodes missing from the blu ray release? some episodes have 2 parts and 1 part of a episode is missing, so annoying, according to imdb database there is supposed to be 39 episodes

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0179552/episodes

but on the blu ray box it says there is 21, that is not complete at all, why are there episodes missing?

edit: don't worry i have found them, in order to view the 2nd part of a episode you have to go to scene selection and select it manually, stupid as it sounds, why don't the second part play automatically?

I'm assuming the UK and Australian sets are exactly the same (please correct me if I'm wrong) but has anyone compared the French boxset to them? It has 7 discs instead of 5 so I'd love to know if it has any benefit or if it's for some reason not as good.

Wish I had read this thread beforehand. Just picked this up thinking it is 1.33:1 and finding out it has been cropped. At least it’s not a simple pan & scan job but some scenes do not look great due to losing top and bottom. I guess it’s unique in that respect.

A bit of a shame since the picture quality is so much better than the old DVD.

Oh well it only cost me £7 and it’s got a cool hologram cover!

You did. Yours is the second post on this thread. Following a post confirming these are widescreen versions, you posted this:
