Wow, so when all is said and done, this film will (in all likelihood) have at least four different cuts on Blu-ray, which I believe is a record for censorship-related cuts on BD:

The Swedish Blu-ray, which seems to be the only uncut version on BD--this may or may not be available in Denmark and/or Finland (it has been banned in Norway), but the BD should be identical in all three territories.

The US Blu-ray, which would seem to be 103 minutes long, with ca. 1 min. of cuts (TBC, however).

The UK Blu-ray, which is 100 minutes long with ca. 4 min, of cuts.

The German Blu-ray, which appears to be 86 minutes long with ca. 18 min. of cuts.

The only logical choice for an uncut version from anywhere else (assuming the US distributor doesn't change their minds) would be France, (or possibly Hong Kong?). I have a feeling the Japanese will find the sex problematic and that there may be optical blurring on any Japanese editions, otherwise I'd throw them into the mix as well, and apparently our friendly neighborhood smut purveyors in Austria don't want to touch this one with a ten foot pole right now.

I feel like we're back in the good ol' days of the late 20th Century comparing DVD versions--it's kind of exciting as long as you can import the uncut edition.

You honestly think that makes a different? They obviously know people would prefer the film how it's supposed to be, little internet petitions are incredibly useless.

Do you expect them to go "oh wow people want the full version damn we didn't know, well in that case let's put it out"?

Actually, Im not conflicted at all. I like good horror flicks - emphasis on GOOD. However films that are supposedly "disturbing" just dont help me out. Very often there is NO plot except to try and disturb you. Ive heard a little about this and alls I can do is shake my head and wonder whet the hell the point was?

Oh well.

I have never before come across a film where, in the reviews, a few short seconds of the movie have been blown out of porportions like in this one.

There are ppl who are soo shocked at some of the things portrayed in the film, and who go to great lenghts to try to give the impression of the film that you, in part, seem to have.
It is violent, yes, but not just for violence's sake. I would suggest you take the most critical reviews/word of mouth with a grain of salt.

I have been discussing this film on a Norwegian forum, and those who were calling me.. well.. about the worst things you can imagine, had not even seen film themselves. Just read that it includes this and that and made up their mind that no one should ever see this, and those who are even the least bit curious are sick.

It is 'just' a movie. One of the most graphic and violent ones in years for sure, but still just a movie.

Just got off the phone with a friend, and might be able to get a hold of a few copies of the scandinavian version. Will get confirmation tomorrow. Let me know if you're interested.

Edit: Reg B locked (confirmed by member CRS), and only scandinavian subtitles.

Edit 2: He only had DVDs, not Blurays. Sorry guys..

Movie itself will be $21.50, and shipping either $6.93 or $14 depending on weight of the bluray (under/over 100 grams) Can ship just disc and insert to save shipping cost if thats interesting.
Shipped Golden Compass to US last week, and that one came in at 187g with envelope/cardboard, but that is a quite heavy item with 2 disc and slip.

ahhh

no probs.

btw this film has been passed for sale in australia, but it is the same cut as the uk version.

and on a side note human centipede 2 has been passsed uncut here with a r18 rating, so its obviously not as extreme as some are hoping.

That I didn't actually know. I guess it isn't surprising though. But I can confirm the BD has got Danish subtitles, so it clearly was manufactured with the intention of getting a Danish release.

But it does seem like violence for violences sake. Skull !@#ing? Infant rape, even off-camera can never be sold as "art". Hey - they can make this stuff all they want but its hard to see the point or the "metaphor" for it all. If these torture/gore porn directors really had a productive message to send Id think they'd find a better way to convey said message. I realize the director is mad at the Serbian Govt or whatever...but why not make a smart film that really looks to inform everyone of the Govt problems? Like Stone's JFK or something along those lines. I get the whole "The govt is focking the people over" bit. That doesnt mean you have to show me bloody anal rape or whatever to get your point across or to insinuate the "focking" part. Geesh whiz.

Imaging if Ghandi or other people with a cause or a message to spread resorted to this? I could see Ghandi skull-raping an old lady...that'll make everyone sympathetic to his cause.

Ya know?

The good part is that at some point someone will come along and make a parody of all these gory/torture films and we can all watch that and have a good laugh. Maybe the theme can be infants sewn mouth-to-a$$ while being eaten by satanic dogs and also being skull-focked by escaped child molestors as their parents are forced to watch with their eyes propped open via "Clockwork Orange". Now that would be sahweeeet!

When you see this scene in the film, you will most likely roll your eyes and laugh. It's so over the top that you can't take it seriously.

[Show spoiler]The main character uses his erect shlong as a weapon against a bad guy who loses his eyepatch, exposing his empty eye socket.

I think it's great that after all of its problems, it's finally being released, but I can't see myself watching this one again at least not a third time. Once you get through all the shock value stuff, IMO it's not that good of a movie

Actually " A Serbian Film" is a parody of "Saw" and the new french extremity type films. It's not to be taken seriously, it's a horror/comedy.

My only problems with the film were this:

[Show spoiler]The baby scene and the sex scene at the end that showed that Milos was screwing his son. Especially on the last one, the close up shots of the legs. That made me feel dirty.

I thought it was funny when Milos
[Show spoiler]is on the bull viagra and the people who he's trying to escape from are holding him back because he wants to screw the chick on the bed.

I understand the reaction. The idea of child/infant or any rape is upsetting and uncomfortable- but I thought that scene was pure comedy gold.
My only problem is they didn't go far enough with it. It wasn't as brutal as the Guinea Pig movies.
Mind you, your talking to someone who is completely certain that the film "Precious" is a stealth parody.

Still, "A Serbian Film" is up there with "Visitor Q." as far as post-modern Mondo films go..

I thought the scene became funny when
[Show spoiler]he popped his dick into that eye socket like the damn splinter from Zombi 2
.

I am tempted to get the German Blu-ray to see how coherent it is since 18 minutes are missing. How the hell do you go from 104 min to 86 min?
