Good call, I totally agree with you. The 5.1 DTS MA mix sounds constrained and muffled. The 2.0 DTS stereo track has genuine channel separation and a wider dynamic range.

How do the FIRST BLOOD & RAMBO III mixes sound by comparison?

The 5.1 tracks on First Blood and Rambo III sound very good, especially Rambo III. Part 2 is the only one that has this issue with the 5.1 track.

It is, right down to it missing the English-Russian subtitles on Rambo III. I also believe the Canadian set's bit-rates are lower than the European versions.

Yeah you want either of those. Be aware that particular Rambo III is locked to B whereas the other two discs are region free

That boxset has been OOP for a couple of years it seems and now goes for big money. The single film releases in the UK seem to just use the original disks with all their problems I believe.

Is this boxset released in the UK post the grenade boxset okay ?

It contains the original releases, not the remasters.

Have the German set, but supposedly the Australian quadrilogy set has the remastered versions & fixed Russian subs in Rambo 3? Or just the previously released trilogy set?

It is for some strange reason at the moment. However you have had plenty of opportunity get it much cheaper, it was listed at au$25 for ages. It could be had for au$20 (which is approximately $14 U.S) if you had picked it up during one of JB's frequent 20% off sales.

That's correct. The Australian quadrilogy set includes the first three films remastered. Rambo III has English subs for Russian dialogue and is region B locked, while the other discs are region free. (or region AB, cant remember)

I just bought it a couple weeks ago but with that website shipping to the us 28.30 which brings the total to 50.30 which is pretty rough.
