It's like the line art in a video game, not round at all angles when fast movement happens, like an anti alising issue.

I would not be surprised if the DVD has this as well, seems a transfer and standard definition issue, but I've also seen better cartoon transfers. I might buy the DVDs to find out.

A DVD will be at 480p, and DVD/BD players can upconvert the video feeds to at least appear better. Plus they're most likely the best those series will look for now, since they're probably based on the original files. I think the only way we can expect a quality Blu-ray release is if after Korra concludes, they revisit the original backgrounds and animation(like Paramount, who is Nick's parent company, did with Star Trek TNG) and redo the film with opened mattes |

Count me in on the group of those who want to see this get a Blu release. Sure, the show wasn't produced in 16:9/HD (no Nick cartoons were up until somewhat recently), but it would still benefit from an upscaling, which would make it look much better than its DVD counterpart. Hopefully, if Nick decides to release season 1 of Korra on Blu-ray (which would be a first for them), they'd also consider doing this. Would make the wait for season 2 of Korra, which is in development, a bit more bearable.

Ohhhh upsampleing via DVD, the best way to view the first show right now, I forgot about that. Kinda wish I didn't buy it on iTunes now. Well I'll buy it on DVD as well. I love the show too much and want the best way to watch it.

Go ahead and mark our family down in the "would buy on blu" column! They could just fill the sides with different elemental art if it was only produced in 4:3.
We all love the original series so much. I think we've watched it in it's entirety at least four times now. Here's hoping that nick gives the show some love with a decent BD release! |

Any news on this one guys? It hasn't been easy holding on, and not buying the DVD sets yet. I'm still on the fence. Don't want to buy the series only to hear a BD announcement the next day
![]() I'm still hopeful that they would announce it with The Legend of Korra home video releases. Fingers crossed. |

Do you think if they make a BD version of A:TLA, they'll screw it up like they did with dragonball? (as in with the aspect ratio transfer where all they did was zoom in and crop a huge portion of the film)
OR will they re-draw everything to fit 16:9? I'm debating if I should buy all three seasons on dvd, or just wait for the BD to come out...but if the BD's are bad (as in just cropping or upscaling) then I will regret not buying the dvds ![]() |

So apparently, there's a chance there'll be a big screen animated Korra film at some point in the future because of the recent formation of Paramount Animation.
If that happens, I think the likelihood of a BD release for Korra goes up wildly. The same may go for A:TLA, as well. Check it: http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/08/...orra-the-movie |

I think the franchise is too tarnished by Shyamalan's movie to those who aren't into the series to be interested, even if for some reason they would reboot the series.

I don't think 3 movies would be enough unless you'd make them long as hell like "TLOTR". Personally I'd probably do a movie per book. I bet the marketing-department would like that best as well. Getting everyone stoked for every new "book". And it's probably the easiest way to divide the movies, rather than cheesy numbers only or some titles made up for just the movies. When I watched the series, I immediately envisioned it into movie-format. Which is a far cry from Shamalalalala-man's way. It hurt to see what they did with it and that they had ALREADY attempted it and completely messed it up as well... |

And yes, even though its only available on DVD, the original series is by far still the better of the two shows, story-wise - at least until more Books for Korra are released... ![]() |

Amazon has listed "Avatar - The Last Airbender: The Complete Book 1 Collection" and "Avatar: The Last Airbender - The Complete Collection" on DVD for a September 9th release date. Are these re-releases?

The Legend of Korra doesn't even seem to be getting a Blu-Ray release in Australia or Europe, so you dreaming if you think Avatar: The Last Airbender is going to be released on Blu-Ray in those areas. |
