Balls. I'm still waiting on mine. Bought it last week from BBC Shop online, as a voucher code knocked it down to £35.69 delivered.

I was holding off buying this boxset in the hope that the price would drop. If there's a problem with the picture quality I may just buy the 2 half series boxsets. Presumably there isn't an issue with those sets? (I rate sound and picture quality over bonus content so it's not a problem for me).

Had this from the BBC:

Quote:
We are aware that there is an error with some of the content within this set for which we apologise. We take quality control very seriously and would like to confirm that the publishers are working as fast as possible to correct the issue.

We will be in touch in due course with details of how to obtain your replacement.

As I am still awaiting details of the return scheme for people in the UK, I've no idea what those abroad can expect. All I can say is that I will post whatever details I become aware of.

I refer the Honourable Gentleman to the post in this thread made some time ago:

Here is the first post about it there
''Has anyone else noticed a strange horizontal line about 40% up the picture on the Blu-Ray on some episodes, below which everything is considerably grainier than the 60% of the picture at the top? It's defeinitely not my player or TV as it comes and goes depending on the episode - i think that the Ganger 2-parter, LKH, Night Terrors and TGWW definitely have it, as well as the first Night and the Doctor episode. It's not present on TDW, TCOTBS, AGMGTW or the Monster Files extras. Odd - either it's an authoring error on the part of 2/E or the 1080p picture is so sharp that it's showing up all kinds of flaws in the source material.''

A number of people are seeing the same problem and returning it, a shame as I was going to pick this up for Christmas but won't bother now

Thanks for your quick response, I'm gonna check my discs also. I also emailed amazon about this problem, if it's already known by them.

I will check them tomorrow myself but I did also contact amazon about this.

Just checked it myself, according to message from Deano546 I checked the following episodes : Let's Kill Hitler; Night Terrors; The Girl Who Waited and The Rebel Flesh. In this order I checked for this problem, at first I saw nothing, probably would not have seen it but I don't for sure, I skipped to every chapter and here and there I saw what's been said.

When I checked The Rebel Flesh that's when I saw it the most clearest, chapter 9, time 30:31, there it's very obvious. Think I'm going to return it.

I'm getting the set for Christmas so I will check my copy also. Sorry if this seems like a silly question but would it be better to contact Amazon/BBC/2E ??

I did contact amazon for this, I can send it back and they will investigate further.

Mail from CS Amazon:

Hello Marcel,

I’m sorry to hear about the issues you’ve had with the 'Doctor Who - The Complete Series 6 Blu ray'.

Thank you very much for the in depth information on the fault, we will find this very useful when investigating our stock.

Please return the DVD to us and we’ll refund you as soon as possible.

What am I going to do?

I am still waiting on my one that work said they bought for me (been over a month. I doubt anyone at work even loaded up the product page! ), and now I find that there are faulty discs in it.

I suspect that the BBC will set up some kind of exchange program, at least I hope they do, since I won't have the invoice when work finally decides to order it!

How long do faulty disc exchange programs last? The exchange offer for the Inception DVD from the triple play set didn't last that long. Will the BBC one be even shorter?

I can't believe I have been waiting over a month, only to find out that I might have to send it back without even opening it because of faults!!!

December has never been my lucky month for blu-ray purchases.

I thought you also posted pics of your purchase few weeks back, the special edition? Luckily amazon.co.uk made no problem and I've send it back today. Hope it all works out for U!

I'm still waiting for my Battle Royale LE that friends bought for me Christmas last year, I think I might be in for a disappointment.

Yeah, that's the only place I've really noticed it, a brief moment. It may be present in a few other scenes as mentioned in posts above, but I think you have to be actively looking for it to take notice (and get annoyed). My advice is for people to actually look at this before they panic. Personally, I think this set looks fabulous, and I can't be bothered to exchange my discs for this. And I'm usually picky about PQ. Of course, the Beeb should exchange faulty discs for those of you who want it. I'm just saying, don't panic.

When I got the Heavenly Creatures BD recently, the bitrate was almost down to SD levels on early pressings, including mine. That was a good reason to panic! (In that particular case, Amazon kept sending me the faulty version to replace it, but in the end the distributor replaced it for me). I had to pack and repack that bloody disc and go down to the post office three times altogether, and claim the postage refund etc,. Maybe that's why I'm not so keen on replacements anymore. It's hard work!

Returned mine, get a refund from amazon, no real hassle. Only thing I don't know yet when "problem" is solved and then I will buy it again. Nice with amazon, what wasn't in the past is that you don't have to pay for the returndelivery upfront anymore, you got that back afterwards but that also not the case anymore, so pretty hassle free for me.

Problem for me was, I skipped through and I saw some scenes with those lines, watched about 15 minutes and in those 15 minutes I saw it a few times, I began thinking, how many times will I see it in an entire episode and what you've said, now that I know, I will probably notice it all the time and get annoyed.
