The release date is almost certainly wrong as its getting a UK cinema rerelease in October so surely the BD will follow that. Therefore the November date for the gift set at Play makes more sense for both versions.

Your statement is almost certainly wrong.

Why ? We are talking UK not Italy here
They will NOT release the BD before they cinema rerelease as will reduce the money they make from that.

The standard edition will be released on the 10th of September, whereas the Gift Set will be released in November.

This year has been such a pain in the ass. Great releases but with such a proliferation of different versions in different countries at different prices. And to make matters worse - totally inconsistent pack shots, if any pack shots at all.

I've got two orders for JAWS - digibook and steelbook.

Three for THE AVENGERS - UK exclusive bonus disc (presence of commentary unknown), US Phase One set (contents of bonus disc unknown) and German 3D steelbook (presence of commentary, contents of bonus disc unknown)

Two for ET - UK steelbook, US digibook.

Two different UK versions of Hitchcock set - interior packaging of compact set unknown.

Three versions of BLADE RUNNER collector's set - US release, suspiciously cheap Canadian release, now UK set (contents unknown)

Three versions of UNIVERSAL HORROR set - cheap standard edition, snazzy French coffin set, UK coffin set (interior packaging unknown)

Two versions of INDIANA JONES TRILOGY because there's still no info about what's in the Collector's set.

And NOW we've got a supposed UK Lawrence Box Set but I've no idea whether to cancel my US order because nobody has a shot of the packaging or specs for the discs.

It's not as if I'm obsessed with packaging. I only want one version of each so I'm waiting for information before I cancel the various different orders (many of them at sale prices I'm reluctant to lose). I've never had to spend this amount of time monitoring releases.

Blame it on poor management on the studios part and all the retailer exclusive bullshit.

Things were so much simpler 4 year ago...

Having got around to watching my review copy of this release at the start of the week, I just wanted to say that this is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular restorations I have ever had the pleasure to watch on Blu-ray. Grover Crisp and the rest of the team at Sony deserve all they praise they are bound to receive for the remarkable work they've done on this classic film.

Make a holiday out of it and come to Australia! LOA 4k is showing end of Sept in Melbourne's Astor Theatre for 2 weeks.

I watch this every 5 years or so starting at age 10 and each time is a whole new experience. I have gone from indifference and boredom to being enthralled by its wonders.

Tesco really peed me off today, went to my large local store to do the weekly shop and pick up LOA, there it was on the shelf looking beautiful and calling me to take it home. Strangely there was no price tag anywhere so I took it to the helpdesk to ask and they said they had nothing on their system for it all so they couldn't sell it to me. They then went and took all of them off the shelf and took them away out back. How ridiculous, I soooo wanted to take it home :'(
