I wonder if thats an official Moleskine? I'd be impressed if it were (and it'd be apt to boot; MOLEskine...). I might order my wife this as a belated Xmas present, as its her favourite of '11.

Steelbook for me, the DE edition looks a bit daft and is poor value for money.
If bought separately at Amazon, you could probably pick them up cheaper elsewhere:
Steelbook £18
Paperback £4
Moleskine notebook £9
OST £9
Which means you're paying a tenner or more for some playing cards, photocards and a box

I don't know, limited edition Moleskine's sell for a pretty penny. The Pacman range from this summer already sells for between £20 and £40 a notebook, and thats not even OOP in most bookstores.

I really shouldn't be surprised any more by what people will pay money for. I can just about see a Pacman commemorative having some cachet that drives the price up, but TTSS? Would anyone ever use either as an actual notebook? If not, its just another item gathering dust in the hope one day you'll be able to offload it at a profit. I've always thought items branded with film logos look a bit too cheesy to use but if Omega can sell James Bond Limited Edition watches for £2000+ with a little 007 on the second hand, then what do I know.

My father-in-law collects Moleskines, and from what I gather limited edition Moleskine books tend to raise value because its not often that the style often deviates from the traditional Moleskine style. I don't think it actually matters whats on there, its the fact that something different from the norm that appeals to collectors.

Knowing what I do about Moleskine collectors, and presuming that this IS an official Moleskine and exclusive to this box set then I think it's a potentially fruitful investment.

Very nice. If I loved the film I'd be tempted if it had the Steelbook in there. £50 is a lot of dosh!

Never seen this yet so if I like it that £14.99 HMV Steelbook looks the most attractive. Amazon had better get some price matching going.

I was never a fan of the BBC series so I'm hoping I might like the film version (although I can't think of too many TV to film translations ever worthy of my time).

Looking forward to seeing this.

Would have thought the film's based more on the original source material, i.e the le Carre book, than the BBC series so you shouldnt worry about how it translates too much.

I doubt it. All involved in the film would have watched and rewatched the BBC series or at least the writers and actors (I know directors like to avoid some material when they remake -or at least they say they do). There's a lot to condense.

The TV series was an enormous hit but I always thought it was just James Bond without sex. I'm going to pick up the BBC 2DVD now though because it's been years since I watched it.

I wonder why they dumbed down the title removing the commas? Shame when they do that as it changes the meaning and it doesn't really make sense to me. Easier for idiots to read maybe.

When I bought that Steelbook off HMV they offered me the BBC 2DVD for £2.99 when making payment.

Would have been impolite not too!

I don't ever recall seeing Smiley's People but if I enjoy TTSS I may watch it.

May watch it?

You have to watch it. Sooo much better than the film.

Gary Oldman was good but Alec Guinness IS George Smiley

What are the chances that these releases would be region-free?

About zero. If you like movies don't let a little bit of dumb technology get in your way.

If you can find this section of Blu-ray.com I'm sure you can buy a multi-region player or set any PC/laptop BDROM to B.

I've got a funny feeling this will be region locked since it's not in the US so buyer beware.

They DID, years ago. Through some technical fault, my student discount still works! I'm not complaining!
