I met Sir Charles Barkley at Phoenix sky harbor airport a few years back. I was just kickin it in a small little sports bar restaurant having a few beers waiting for my flight on a layover. In walked Charles all by himself and took a seat at an open table right next to me and just started shooting the $h!T with me. It didn't hurt that the Masters was on when Tiger was still on top of his game. He opened with what hole they were on and if tiger still was leading. The conversation just went on from there and we just talked for about 5 minutes. It was obvious tiger and he were friends because he sure ragged on him like they were tight. It was all joking though. He was just another guy sitting in a bar watching the Masters talking to another guy while having a beer. Very cool and genuine man. I never acknowledged who he was nor bothered for an autograph. I think at times, celebrities just want to be regular ol folks and just hang out and be treated like anyone else.

Michael Shannon for the nicest.

I attended a screening of the Iceman and he was there. Afterwards I was unlocking my bike down the street from the theater and I noticed him walking down the same street with some of his entourage. As he passed I just said "I just saw the film, I thought you were great.", not thinking much about it. He actually stopped to thank me and started a conversation. We talked for over ten minutes about Richard Kuklinski since I told him I've read books about the guy, and we talked about what they chose to include/exclude for the movie, and he just seemed to enjoy talking and wanted to know a little about me.

Rudest: Julia Roberts. I was a huge fan and that night after she snubbed me, I literally threw away every VHS movie I owned of hers and avoid her movies as much as I can.

Nicest: Kate Beckinsale or Cindy Crawford. Both were so stunning in real life and treated me like a King despite my meh looks!

I've met one or two actors or filmmakers who were rude, but luckily the list of people who were at the very least polite and in some cases extremely friendly is longer: John Waters, Melvin Van Peebles, Greta Gerwig, Harry Belafonte, John Travolta, David Simon, Bobcat Goldthwait, Lena Dunham, Richard Linklater, Val Kilmer, Alex Winter, Michael Moore...

John Waters particularly has a nice line about his celebrity--something along the lines of "I have the perfect kind of fame: only the people I would want to recognize me do."

Both of those stories are way cool!

Btw, I never heard of The Iceman and looked it up. I really want to see that now!

Nicest - Keanu Reeves. I was walking downtown Toronto at about 9pm on a Sunday evening. I was with my gf at the time and we were just relaxing after a nice meal.

We stopped to take a look at a view of the lake, and I noticed a guy doing the same thing. He was all by himself, scruffy, and with a little smile on his face.

I recognized him right away though(c'mon)... but said nothing.

He then said 'Nice view', and I responded back with agreement. We then had about a 5 minute conversation on the weather, and how nice it was to just stand there and relax. We talked about other things going on as well. It was really nice.

He said it was a pleasure talking to me, and said he hoped to bump into me again.

My gf at the time didn't say a word. She goes 'Why did you talk with that creepy guy?'. LOL... I told her 'That was Keanu Reeves'. She then hit me and said why didn't you ask for his autograph. I said, that conversation was a lot more memorable.

I only had one bad experience with celebrity. That wont be mentioned here though since I have heard that person is typically very nice. We all can have an off day.

I've met a few who were incredibly nice. I met Matt Damon and Sharlto Copley in Mexico. Really sweet guys and very friendly.

I met Jeff Bridges, he's great, even though I think he was high or something, or maybe that's the way he is, I don't know, but it was a nice experience.

I met Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes back in '94 or so in New York, they actually invited me to sit down and have dinner with them, which I did. We talked for a couple of hours, actually. That was by far, the most fun experience I've had with celebrities.

I've also met Sean Astin, Naomi Watts, Vin Diesel, Vincent Cassel, Stephen Dorff, Ethan Embry (don't judge me for getting excited about this, I'm a huge fan of Can't Hardly Wait and Empire Records), Patrick Tatopoulos (he counts, right?), Jodie Foster (she's so awesome it's not even funny) and Seth Green. I met Russell Crowe as well and contrary to what many people seem to think, he was actually great. I went on and on about how much I loved him in The Insider and I think he found that amusing, haha.

Last but not least, I met Kristen Stewart in a rather awkward but ultimately sweet way. She's probably the most shy and nervous celebrity I've ever met.

About bad experiences, I only have had one and that was Jude Law. He's a total dick and I hope I never run into that idiot again. Maybe he was having a bad day, I don't know. But he's an idiot.

I have met a few celebrities, mostly at conventions:

The cast of the first Friday the 13th movie: All of them were really nice, but Betsy Palmer was the nicest. I was very sick when I attended the convention I met them at. Ms Palmer noticed this and ask me if I would like to sit with her for a few minutes to rest. I did and we had a great conversation. She even gave me a few ideas on how to get rid of the illness. Later that night, I was in my hotel room when there was a knock at the door. I answered the door to see room service standing there. The guy came in with a tray of stuff. He said that Ms. Palmer had sent this over because she wanted me to get better. There were all these different herbal teas and such. I took them and went to sleep. The next day I felt great, like I was never sick. I saw Ms Palmer later that day and thanked her for the stuff. I tried to repay her but she wouldn't accept it. She said that she felt bad for me and that I was the nicest and most unassuming person at the convention. She felt that she needed to help. She was happy to see that I was feeling better.

Kane Hodder: Total dick. Wanted a picture with him and he took one with everyone but me.

Tom Savini: Very nice.

Bill Mosley: Very nice

Doug Bradley: True gentleman

Robert Englund: Very nice

Ray Wise: He held an elevator for me.

Tony Todd: More interested in talking to women than signing autographs, which is what he was paid to be there for.

John Candy: I was in downtown Chicago in a record store. I was about 10 at the time. He was there looking at things and I went up to him and we started talking. Conversation lasted for about five minutes, but it is one of the most memorable things that has ever happened to me. He was just a really nice guy. Warm and sweet.

Met George Takei today. He was supposed to only be at this event from 4-6 but he stayed until he met every fan. He probably didn't leave until 9-10.

Default Rude celebrity encounters

Who were the rudest and meanest celebrities you've ever encountered?

My stories are based of my friends and other peoples experiences.

One of my female school friends was a huge Justin Bieber fan and was so looking forward to seeing him in concert in London back in march. She unfortualy went to the show in which he turned up two hours late. She hasn't been a fan of him ever since. Very horrible and rude especially to those young fans who had to go to school the next day.

I also had a teacher who works at Pinewood and she told me the time a celebrities wife (Don't know who it was) slamed a door in her face.

Other than those stories from my friends, what about your experiences?

I met Jonah Hill in an airport when I was deploying to Afghanistan. I was at the checkout at a book store the same time as him and told him that I watched The Sitter just the night before and really enjoyed it. He was really nice and thanked me.

I actually had lunch with the band Twisted Sister while stationed in Korea. Even got up on stage with the band and sang "We're not gonna take it" with them. Really cool experience, and they were very nice.

I've never really had the opportunities to meet celebrities.

However, at a Cheesecake Factory in Indianapolis I got autographs from Edgerrin James and Reggie Wayne. Didn't really talk much to them. This has probably been almost ten years ago.

Last year I went to a country music concert and did a meet and greet with Jake Owen and Lee Brice. They were nice. Eric Church was a no show though. So I take it he's a guy that doesn't like to interact with his fans.

That's about the extent of my celebrity interactions. Nothing special.

While I didn't actually talk to him I kind of nodded while walking past at a screening of Albino Alligator Kevin Spacey was a total ******* to one of my friends I wasn't a fan before that and not really a fan now

Nicest there have been a few

Jen and Sylvia Soska
Karl Urban
Jim Kelly
John Waters (only met him once at a Cry Baby screening I was in awe as i felt like a 12 year old at a Justin Beiber concert)

Come to mind

I would love it if you elaborated on Julia Roberts. I kind of believe you since she was paid the most out of the people in Valentine's Day even though she had few scenes in it. At the same time, she seems like a nice person.

Please elaborate as well! From what I read in an interview he did for Side Effects, he seems like a nice guy.
