I would have put that down to a PAL speedup but it doesn't sound like it
That 1080p screen grab you posted has to be from the 1st German Blu-Ray, which was an upscale and in PAL format. It would make sense it'd be at 1:06 because that transfer had PAL speed up. It also barely has more detail than the Goodtimes shot you linked to.

The Stallone Box transfer is 1080p "real HD" and that shot you're showing is right at 1:09 as it should be. That rip is definitely not from this release, as this transfer blows both of those shots away.

Default 'Nighthawks'

Once again 'Nighthawks' was on TV a couple of nights ago, same version available worldwide 1 HR 39Mins.
& I couldn't help but notice several sequences which are just begging to be seen fully uncut
Which feature The late Great special FX guru Dick Smith's work.

The Disco stare down scene where Wulfgar opens fire is still cut! You can clearly see that many more patrons where randomly shot.

Judging by the exit wound, It's obvious in the scene on the escalator where Nigel Davenport meets his fate, we're clearly supposed to see him get shot at point blank by Shaka,

I also noticed towards the end, the sequence where Shaka (Persis Khambhatta) gets shot by Billy Dee Williams, Wulfgar starts randomly firing
from the bus at the hostages, if you pay attention you can see he manages to kill one hostage, who is lying dead on the ground!

It bothers me that Universal to this day haven't bothered to release this Uncut,
Perhaps Shout Factory/ Arrow Films & Video may one day be granted access to the vault & get This out there on Bluray.
There's loads of Lindsay Wagner scenes waiting to be seen alongside some backstory involving Stallone & Williams.

I'd love to see it as intended, I'd especially like to see Dick Smith's FX bloody squib showdown where Wulfgar gets blown away.

My copy arrived yesterday and I'm very impressed. This one is flying under the radar it seems as it's cheap and region free...nice bonus to have Paradise Alley on it also (though the transfer is not as good).
Is this actually region free?

Well, if I'm to take anyone's word about region coding at face value in an internet message board, it'll be someone with Region_unlocked as their handle. Cheers!

It is region free - not that you needed another confirmation but there you go.

According to a user on movieside.de the release will contain the original soundtrack.

This new Koch mediabook release contains both the original soundtrack with music untouched, listed as "English - Kino" and the altered soundtrack, listed as "English - Video".

The movie itself is also offered in 2 aspect ratios on the disc, Full Screen and Widescreen, before entering the main menu.

The TV version on the bonus dvd is a censored US TV version with the most violent shots removed and foul language replaced and/or toned down. As is also common with TV versions, some violent scenes have been replaced and/or extended with less harmful ones. In total it's about 4 mins shorter than the Theatrical cut.

yeah sadly the "open Matte" on the BLu is crap (more cropped and zoomed than opened up) and the TV Version has no worthy extra footage

From IMDB:
Quote:
An original uncut scene showed Wulfgar getting shot five times (instead of twice) in slow-motion by DaSilva, and in the end, the final sixth shot hit him in the head blowing his brains out. An animatronic head of Rutger Hauer was made by special makeup artist Dick Smith and used in this scene
They did the same thing with RoboCop.
Build an animatronic head and squib it. At least we got to see it in RoboCop eventually.

I wonder why no one ever bothers to revisit these kind of movies.
Nighthawks and Another 48hrs are both butchered and deserve a better release.

I wonder if the openings credits are in German or English, also is there a good samaritan out there willing to post screenshots ?

Koch has DTS-HD audio and better compression. AFAIK it's the same transfer as the Shout!

By altered you mean remixed or entirely different soundtrack?
