25 November 1992 was the release day of The Bodyguard. I hope Warner Bros. release a 20th Anniversary Edition of the movie (Blu-ray)

I think they still have time until april 10 2012 to do it.

Regards,

I missed the announcement posts on this. Just pre-ordered, it's reasonably priced at $14.99 and as mentioned it's at the top of several best selling lists, I'm sure it was a limited run and may sell out. And the soundtrack is going to be terrific in lossless.

The Bodyguard upcoming blu-ray release, and all of Whitney Houston's movies on DVD, her CD's, and unreleased recordings are going to be released posthumously, and sell like hotcakes.

I really hope (doubt it) they make a special featurette for Whitney on this blu-ray. I actually teared up a little when Jennifer Hudson performed "I Will Always Love You" in tribute to Whitney. Man I miss the 90's and she in part made my childhood.

I would also think 20th Century Fox will fast track Waiting to Exhale and Sony would do the same for The Preacher's Wife to boost sales of those pictures. Sad they would do that to capitalize on her death, but the old saying goes, you're worth more dead then alive. May she RIP.
Not necessarily capitalizing, but more like making it readily available for those who want to watch it now admist the news of her passing. I know for me, I have never seen The Bodyguard and after watching all this news on her death, I am more interested now than ever to check it out, so am glad the studios will rush out her movies so I can remember her back in her prime, in glorious HD!

This is entirely the wrong reason to watch a movie, just out of curiosity, and the intriguing death of its costar. If Whitney Houston was still alive and well, would you still be interested in seeing The Bodyguard? The movie was made 20 years ago!

What does the age of the movie have to do with it?

I advise those that are impulse buying this because of Whitney's death to rent it first. The movie is a mess. Actually, just buy the soundtrack instead!

I enjoy it quite a bit so you can think it's a mess if you like, I like it. This is the last of 4 Costner films I really like -
Field of Dreams
Robin Hood Prince of Thieves
Dances with Wolves
Not sure I'll get any more of his work after this

I had The Bodyguard (DVD) for sale on Half.com for a year, and somebody bought it the day after Whitney Houston died.

It's more guilty pleasure for many than it is a good movie.

I mean, c'mon, that Oscar scene?

Yeah, The Wizard of Oz was made over 70 years ago, who in the heck would want to watch that? It's a natural enough reaction that when an actor dies it piques an interest in their work - when Elizabeth Taylor died last year it spiked sales of her movies. Wish it would get more of them on Blu-ray, I bought the UK release of Cleopatra and it's terrific, I'd sure like to part with some cash for a Blu-ray of Giant and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

The Bodyguard is certainly no Wizard of Oz, but it's also far from a 'mess' in my opinion. It was clearly a vehicle to cash in on her status as a top recording artist, but the plot is decent and I thought Houston did a convincing job as an actress. The soundtrack should be terrific in lossless, Amazon has already lowered by pre-order to the new $13.49 price.

I've always really enjoyed this movie, actually. My concern now is that the date will be pushed back so they can add new special features.

not really...if anything its a good reason to watch a movie or listen to music from an artist who just died...who knows, maybe this person will turn into a fan. i just saw waiting to exhale on netflix last night, havent seen that movie since the 90s and probably had no intention of watching it again if it wasnt for her death.

If anybody wasn't a Whitney Houston fan at the beginning of her career long before she died, to love, support and appreciate her profession as an artist, why would someone want to become a fan now after she's gone? It's too late because she's no longer here to see it. When Whitney Houston was alive, the new media, the public constantly made disparaging remarks, and practically crucified Whitney Houston because of her struggling drug addition, and marriage to her ex-husband: Bobby Brown. Now she's passed on, everybody want to express their phony love, and crying crocodile tears because of her death. Well she doesn't have to worry about nobody here on earth anymore, she's now at peace with God, her heavenly Father.
