The Klingon translated into English moments don't appear as they did in the theater, yet they do for Wrath of Khan... curious why Paramount made this change for one film but not the other... (Vulcan in Star Trek II).

However, there is one subtitle (When Kruge says "Feed him!") that was originally positioned on the right of the screen, just under the character. On the Blu-ray, it's centered. |

Got it, so they're not burned into the film frame as it would have appeared originally in a theater. Some of the old James Bond SE DVD versions, like Octopussy, just wiped them clean away. They were there theatrically but not present on some optical disc presentations for whatever reason. I know the Star Trek III CE DVD did have the Klingon subs as they appeared originally, burned into the film frame.

If I had to guess, I'd say it's because the Blu-rays are based off the international HD masters first created for TV distribution in various, non-English territories. The sole exception being II, which was a new transfer.

New transfer for WOK... that's it. That makes sense. It is the only one that has them the way they originally appeared on film.
